I have no idea why this music is so nostalgic. I’ve literally never owned a WWE DVD before the WrestleMania XV 2013 re-release and yet it sounds like I heard it years ago.
I may be biased living 100 miles south of Chicago, but it's the best background you can have for this kind of festival. And this was the first time I ever went to Lolly AND to Grant Park.
The good thing is they always had great on-screen branding and music, regardless of era. I like the early-90's theme (1990-93) and then the various bumpers from 1993-99.
Good to see more Viewer's Choice PPV promos as well as more Playing This/Next Month bumper with the iconic tune that will turn 26 this year. Ironically, King of the Ring 1999 was the first PPV event after Owen Hart's tragic accident during the last PPV event which is Over the Edge. This was my own recording. I recorded Super Bowls 42-45 and 48-50. All on VHS, because I did not have a laptop or PC with enough memory to save these broadcasts.
Eventually, I will. I do have just the local commercials from Springfield, IL that aired during 44 on my channel. I'm kinda worried the VHS quality on that tape will cause some issues when I digitize all of the ads. I also have pregame shows for five of my Super Bowl tapes (43, 44, 45, 48, 49), but I know the game's the thing when it comes to those who want to watch commercials.
Usually with Fox, they will play the signature outro right after Curt Menefee signs off from The O.T. When they air the Super Bowl, the outro airs right after the last station break and before the signoff. Fox still had a local station break to air before "New Girl" was to begin. And they signed off a little early so FS1 could take over postgame coverage. Hence why it is rare. Curt signing off from the game on Fox = people stopping their recordings if they weren't gonna keep it rolling for "New Girl" or "Brooklyn Nine-Nine."
