The Stumptown Axes channel shares experiences from restoring vintage axe heads and making custom handles. I will show mistakes, successes, and hopefully some restorations people will like.
When setting the wedge did you say that you don't want the wedge to hit the bottom of the kerf, or did you mean the bottom of the eye? Thanks for the video, I've been struggling with the wedge on a user double bit that keeps knocking loose on the trail.
In this case it’s a stylistic choice. It can be a benefit thought. Many vintage heads have been knocked around a little and can have an asymmetrical eye and need a varying amount of eye pressure and different wedges can provide that. You can also create a cantilever effect with a middle wedge for some added pressure.
So I have a question, would you be willing to make me a tomahawk? A nice stained polished handle. I have a huge backyard and have been wanting to put a wooden target and start axe throwing.
По структуре похоже на ясень,хорошее и крепкое дерево! Хотя могу ошибаться,но в любом случае красиво получилось. Я в молодости из березы делал,о другом дереве не знал,хотя клён рос кругом и мы его не брали. Глупыми были.
