Hello, and welcome to my channel! I am focused on posting vintage music, especially Perry Como songs. Perry Como is my favorite artist and, in my opinion, has some of the greatest music ever! Enjoy the music!
Perry Como Miscellaneous Long Life, Lot's Of Happiness ( Long life, lots of happiness, good wine, lots of pretty kids . . . ) We gotta be one, one happy time . . . Drive in show, covered in snow, but we never felt the cold! We bought us a blanket and I always meant to thank it for huggin' us so warm! So we loved and laughed an' the world was our bankroll to spend ( bankroll to spend! ) I took you to dinner, chow main and egg rolls the fortune cookies that read ( cookies read! ) Long life, lot's of happiness, good wine, lot's of pretty kids . . . we gotta be one, one happy time . . . It was a bitter wine, our first sip of time then we drank 'till the sweet stuff ran dry through sunshine an' roses, the winter's red noses the days softly tip toeing by! Now, you're the good ol' days as you come back to play on my mind the time of the rain, the last time you came you lived by those silly old lines! Long life, lot's of happiness, good wine, lot's of pretty kids . . . we gotta be one, one happy time . . . . . . long life, lot's of happiness, good wine, lot's of pretty kids . . . we, we gotta be one, one happy time . . .
Perry Como is a great singer and Fats Domino is a great stylist . However , for me , the highlight of the show was when Jo Stafford sang the medley of folk songs so beautifully with Mr C playing the guitar . Jo Stafford is a beautiful woman and looks very capable of doing slapstick comedy like Judy Holliday . Does anyone know if Jo Stafford ever did any comedy , you know , like Connie Francis falling on her rear end in her movie ' Looking For Love '
Again, like Perry, Jo had natural flare and a wonderful stage presence. I'd love to think she was the same off camera. I wasn't aware if her in comedy roles, but I do know she made a great job of our traditional Scottish songs. Bonnie Mary of Argyll in particular.
The camera loved Perry Como. He had natural warnth and charm. He was the real deal. Way ahead of anything in England. By comparison, we had Billy Cotton and Val Doonican.
This very emotional song has been a favorite of mine since I first listened to it in 1963. I was pinned to a wonderful girl from Bowden, Ga. a small town a few miles from the Alabama state line. When Spring Quarter ended, I had to work on a cross country pipeline in south western Mississippi. We were apart all summer. When college started in the fall, I headed back to Ga. and I must have sung this song a hundred times on the drive back to school. She was waiting, but by the end of the following summer she was in the arms of another. No one sings this song better than Perry Como and each time I hear it, memories come flooding back of that girl and that time 60 years ago.
I’ve always preferred Bridge over Troubled Waters the original version, until I learned Perry Como’ version.. wooow! So much great qualities. A beautiful human, he sure is. He’ll always be remembered. An awesome show. Thank you for posting. I’m appreciated.
