My adventures metal detecting, gold prospecting, and treasure hunting at home in Texas as well as Arizona and other states. If it involves adventure and there’s something to find, I’ll do it!
I just cut the clamp portion off of the trolling motor mount, drilled four holes in it on top, two on the vertical to connect into the rudder bolts, and used a metal plate on top of the bracket for reinforcement. I used bolts mounted through aluminum tubing inside the hull to make sure everything would be sturdy from the inside. The hardest part of this project is getting the bolts up through the hull. I first drilled the holes, then put very small weights on fishing line and dropped them in through the holes, stood the kayak up so they would run all the way to the front, and then took off the weights and tied the fishing line to the bolts so that I could pull them to the back of the kayak and they would come up through the holes. It was a lot easier than it sounds! You can also modify the trolling motor mount so that you can remove the trolling motor when you want to just by pulling a pin. What’s funny is after I did this modification, somebody saw it and had to have it, and offered me more money than the kayak should have been worth! so I sold it and then turned around and bought a pedal drive kayak!
Yes you're right, he had it checked out and they said it was magnetite. But dang it that's a disappointment, lol! Yeah those frogs were crazy like at first I just didn't know what it was. Admittedly it would've been more fun to have been scared and then go check it out, but I guess I've just been out in the boonies too much to be surprised.
WOW, nice nugget hole. You can easily find more good nugget holes by learning the physics involved in dowsing with the modern light weight ball bearing dowsing rod, which are the same physics used in detecting with the electronic gold metal detector. Read the book: The Art of Dowsing - Separating Science from Superstition (14.95), by Michael Fercik. The book will teach you how to build and all the physics used in dowsing with the modern light weight ball bearing dowsing rod. It is the only dowsing rod that accurately gauges what is being dowsed by pitting the energy of gravity against the energizing of the pure one-tenth ounce dowsing rod load that is attached on the elevated acetylene welding rod, which free spins on ball bearings. This precisely gauges the dowsing of all edges, exact center, depth buried with angle of deposition, and most important is grading of the dowsed element that is contained in the elemental mass that is being dowsed. Anybody can become a professional dowser by practicing the book's dowsing lessons of buried pipelines and electrical cables, tunnels and voids, precious metal placer and lode deposits, dowsing for treasure, dowsing for any element, amplified long distance dowsing from a moving vehicle, and dowsing on water from a boat. We are starting a new dowsing training RU-vid channel: Tracy & Michael"s Dowsing Adventure, which will explain the involved physics with dowsing demonstration on everything stated in this post, although our main emphasis will be dowsing precious metal placer and lode deposits because we are gold prospectors. I hope everyone is safe and healthy while having a good day.
Lol! Worse-because you're tempted to swing it every step of the way going back! For ME, that means probably the other half of the day just to get there!
Haven't finished watching yet, so many thoughts running through my head. I thought arrowhead hunting sounded fun! Fine line between wanting to share your adventures and giving away too much info on the web. Keep your fishing spots close to the vest and your gold patches closer! Gotta go finish watching!
I hope the rock is a meteorite for yours and my sake. I found bigger specimens exactly like yours in Arizona near saguaro national park area. I believe it to be magnetite or some similar iron rich rock. I am not a geologist, but I did some research on my rocks. Nice gold nuggs!
I will! I did tell him while there that you said hi previously. He told me about you and I think we'd all have fun together exploring and prospecting! Of course it's quite the jump from Alaska!
I know this is about the gold finds, but I love that you shared the BEAUTIFUL sunset and the canyon. The frogs sounded like something from a alien invasion movie.
Does the wash you were in at the 12:30 mark have an old small ore car someone used for a cattle trough on the left side as you are going down? Tell Owen Vance from Alaska says Hi!
Thanks for the kind words! I definitely was disappointed, but at the same time I’m not living off of this gold, so it doesn’t really hurt me in that sense. Having found that patch, and being in on a few others being found I feel like if I just keep doing what I’ve been doing I will stumble across another one! I’ll video that too, but I guess I’ll be a little bit more careful about things, lol! Thanks for watching!
Thanks! I'm wanting to do more old houses and stuff that's local this year. Having said that, I did just book another trip to Az! Lol... So I'll be working a good bit ahead of that as usual. I'll keep you posted though. Looks like potentially could be several interested.
I have good impressions of the Axiom, so the question i have is the 6000 does not pin point well and they use the GM1000 to pin point. How does the Axiom do for pin pointing?
I didn't notice any particular issues pinpointing with the small coil. Once you know where the hotspot is it's pretty easy. Now I do use a plastic scoop to help narrow down the target vs trying to precisely pinpoint in the pile of dirt. But I could confidently say that you do not need another detector to narrow down the target! Thanks for watching!
People are such sacks of shite. It's why you can't let anyone see stuff in the background. Chigg gets the same stuff. People running to his sites in his video.
Hay mate, saying G'day from Western Australia 🇦🇺 I've hunted places and then left, gone back, and it looks different to what I remember. The only way I knew I was on the spot was my way point mark. The GPX6000 is a beast hay!!! I cal it the vacuum cleaner. Have you tried the GPX17 coil? It's awesome to hunt with, I just use the minelab 11" and 17" coils. Great video, and I hope the gold keeps coming for you.
I do have the 17 inch coil but I have not run it yet. That little nugget finder has come in really handy in some of the tighter areas that we have been searching for the last few trips. But I know the 17 is a screamer because my buddy used that one for a while and told me that I should try it. I want to use it next time searching for a new patch just because it will have much more coverage. You're definitely right about how things look different when you come back! I'm just like all those people you read about where you think you're just going to go right back to the spot but then when you get there you're not really sure. I used to think that was just a detail of treasure legends that just added to a good story. But it is the truth, it can be very difficult at times, especially after rains have come through! Thanks for watching and hopefully that 6000 will keep your gold poke full!
I live in Marana AZ now, but I used to live in Norwalk CA and would look for gold in the San Grabriel Mountains in Dime Canyon and did very, very well look about two miles into the canyon on the left side of the canyon you'll see a bench about 80-90 feet-up, look there, it's no longer part of my life but it can be a part of yours, just know this be careful this place tried to kill me three times, it will try to kill you as well.
Wow, thanks for the tip! Sounds like a cool adventure! I've been really wanting to get to California to do a little prospecting, but just haven't done much to make it a reality. Sounds like that should be the first place to go! Thanks for watching and for your comment, and hopefully you're finding a lot of gold in AZ!
Man, you picked a miserable weather window to visit ! 🥶🥶 To bad about the patch bandits, but they obviously suck at metal detecting, and quite frankly arent very ambitious either. 🤣 Nice job on the nuggets too !!
You got that right! It was super cold that first night, and then my last day was nothing but rain. But I was so excited to get back to that patch area! Now I won’t lie, I was pretty disappointed at what I found, but that’s OK because there are so many places that I have to hunt and so many places that I even haven’t gotten to yet, that it’s not going to slow me down! I’m hoping I can get in a spring trip, but it’s pretty iffy at this point. This is going to be an expensive year from the standpoint of family expenses. It just is what it is! Thanks for watching!
Nothing but trouble with the Axiom, at least 3 of us here in Australia have sent our machines back once or more. Faulty coils, faulty machines, poor ground balance, poor sensitivity, poor stability. Going to take a loss and throw it in the bin as I wouldn't feel right selling it to anyone. Went and got a Minelab GPZ 7000 again, wife has the GPX 6000 - couldn't be happier and back on the gold again....happy days!
Sorry to hear that! Frustrating for sure, and money down the drain... Hopefully those issues get sorted out, but sounds like you have the best combo available between your two machines. Good luck! Hope you dig up a RIPPER as y'all say!
Yes, definitely! Should have some footage coming up soon of going back right now during the winter when all of the vegetation will be much thinner. Hopefully it will be epic as well! Thanks for watching!
Thanks! There are many other beaches at that particular lake, and would like to get a sampling of a few others sometime within the next couple months. I will post video of those as I hunt them. Thanks for watching!
New sub here, great channel and content. Its always nice to have a secret beach filled with treasure. Happy Hunting from Jim and Mason out of New Hampshire USA
Awesome, thanks for subscribing! I have more stuff coming, just been working as usual! Arizona will be coming up in about a month and I’ll try to get to another new beach somewhere between now and that time.
Thanks! That was a crazy day, just finding one of those quarters would have been amazing, but two…! Sadly, in what has become an all too common story, development and housing has swallowed up that land. It has gotten so bad around here that whenever I take a drive in the country looking for old farm houses, and then look up who owns the land, it is most of the time owned by some foreign holding company. That’s why so many of my videos are hunting gold out west, on a beach, etc, or IF I can get a certain venture off the ground, some other really cool detecting adventures for ‘24. Thanks for watching, and stay tuned! Hopefully I will get better at doing these videos as well as having cool subject matter!
lol Andy… I don’t know nuthin’! But Owen is like a gold vacuum! I just watch him and do what he does, hahaha! But I know you can find gold we missed because some of these areas are so loaded with micro nuggets that there HAS to be buckets of fine gold that the detector just can’t see! Could be a great ‘one-two punch’ to dry wash as well, but those areas tend to be steep and brutal to access, so traveling light is the name of the game.. Detectors don’t weigh much these days!
@@jaminoes_ I hope you can too! It may be easier than you think!! I may do a short video on ‘what it takes’ just to show it can be done without spending a ton of money…
I did do scan but usually would have the 6000 turned off so as not to interfere. Other than experimenting with the sensitivity I ran it how it fired up. I’m hoping to get another opportunity to try out the Axiom sometime this winter..
Do you mean the up-down when ground balancing? Generally I try to have good control but rocks and bushes will necessitate raising. The good thing on a PI is you can get a response if you’re trying to narrow down exactly where your signal is. Then again maybe I was just excited! Hahaha
@@jaminoes_ gotcha. I will sometimes do a kind of ‘swoop’ when I have a target, especially if there are obstacles around it. Mainly just trying to get an idea how large or shallow the target is by getting the coil as close to the ground as I can. When not filming I generally scrub the coil on the ground constantly, but the audio on the camera picks it up so loudly that it makes the audio horrible. I’m trying to improve the videos but there are several aspects that I haven’t managed to juggle yet.
How in the world are you there? I was supposed to go the next time, so it’s impossible that this is a different day. It must be the same day as your previous video because I know you wouldn’t leave your body behind.😢
Yes this is last week. I wish I could teleport to metal detecting spots…maybe we need to talk to Minelab or XP and see if they can arrange that! Lol. Anyway, yes, last week. Not sure when the next one will be just yet!
Pretty nice beach looks like you were the first one to swing a detector there and chain was a pretty cool surface fine keep on keep on swamper out👍🇺🇸🇺🇸
Yes it doesn’t seem to have been detected before. Unbelievable amounts of coins and the ratio of good finds to trash is unusually high. Which is awesome!! Thanks for watching! Gold nuggets coming soon…
