Most of the discussion was great on the final topic, although I wanted to my thoughts regardless of whether there's agreement or otherwise. To me, "p-apologetics" is often as a slur to stigmatize any form of defense due to the disgust-based reasoning surrounding the subject. People are not rational, to change someone's mind on the concept of separating fiction from reality is extremely difficult, by fiction vs reality I mean the exploration of fantasy using fiction as opposed to acting out fantasies in reality. The irrational mind will often presume that the exploration of fiction must lead to an increased risk of offense. This baseless claim is often used despite the correlative evidence suggesting the exact opposite. Other claims such as normalization leading to harm, that it's "just immoral" and must be banned, or even the idea that an attraction alone is a mental disorder, each of these are either false or unsubstantiated. DSM-5 does not recognize a paraphilia alone as an MD, which is why there is a criterion for determining the diagnosis of a MD. If you do not struggle in your activities in life then an attraction, regardless of what it is, cannot be considered a negative trait to be diagnosed as a mental disorder. Furthermore, this should apply to the consumption of fictional content as there's no evidence that it leads to an increased risk of harm. It's correct to ban things when we find evidence where it can be harmful, but preventive measures based on no evidence are often unlikely to resolve the particular problem feared.

Comedy didnt land for me, just seemed like inside jokes, and listening to a room full of people laughing for an excessive period, which isnt very funny. The actual serious topics were good though.

Porn is often used to deal with deep trauma, and then it rewires the brain. That book called The Porn Guru by Harper Daniels was insightful.

I googled it and found this talk! 😀 Thank you for sharing, I experienced this heavily in the past few weeks (sometimes like 4-8h hours of feeling depressed after having an orgasm) and I'm glad that I'm not alone in this.

would have enjoyed the subject discussion had there been less annoying banter.Though some may enjoy that aspect.

If anyone wants to hear a more detailed long form interview with Michael Sodini, he did a great interview with Jack over at The Survival Podcast (episode 2356). WTTA has a lot of good ideas and plans to help people seek help with their mental heath while still respecting the Second Amendment. www.thesurvivalpodcast.com/michael-sodini-wtta

Really good to listen to you guys. I’m a therapist at a treatment centre in the UK and we have a lot of the same issues as you guys. Patient brokering is really unsavoury and the whole stats thing drives me crazy. What he didn’t say is the way they often get to those figures is by assuming the ones you lose contact with are still clean (whereas we know they probably aren’t). In defence of equine therapy and other such non-evidence based approaches like you say, firstly they are generally add ons to the program rather than core things but ‘evidence based’ doesn’t always equal ‘best approach’. It just means it’s quatifiably measurable whereas a lot of this stuff is difficult to measure.
