Very interesting. I'll soon get one of the UpMiiCitigo-Trio, and seeing this real world experience under such hard conditions is helpful. It's very unlikely for me to ever be in the same spot, but if a situation like that comes up i know what to expect. 👍
Wow, only driving 90 minutes before yet another 40 minute plus recharge , admittedly a very hot day, but seems to me these small battery cars are really only realistic for local commuting
I know one should take regular breaks when driving long trips but it's terrible that with so many EVs where one drives is dictated by charging stations though, admittedly you're better off than here in the UK where nothing works now and our EV infrastructure is poor.
This looks like what I exactly needed I am moving from the UK to Switzerland. I am used to changing car every three to four years and this company seems to be offering very compelling deals. No hassle with insurance no worry about maintenance. Seems to be like a win win. I wonder if they will accept a customer that just moved to Switzerland

Thank you very much for your comment. I’d recommend you contact the customer support of Carvolution. It’s free of charge and they’ll happily answer any questions you might have.
Nice! I wish the states were as small as your countries are. Even Montana is bigger than Germany. It takes forever to go anywhere here, even flying takes many hours. Driving often takes days. Even in my state of New Mexico it is an 8 hour drive from the top to the bottom. It's exhausting.

Last summer my holiday trip was 750 km with the Citigo. After 12 hours we reached the destination. We are used to drive at night, so we didn't experience slow charging speeds.
I own the citigo an my experience on long trips is similar. I've not driven it on long trips with these extreme outside temperatures, but after a 3 times fast charging you can notice a big decrease in charging speed. What app are you using for measuring the battery temperature? in 2 weeks in i'll go from the Netherlands to austria (i will split it in 2 days) and it could be usefull to see the battery temperature.

Hi John please see this video for all the information about this app: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hT47A1CghR0.html In addition to the app you also need a bluetooth OBD II adapter: This is the link where I bought my adapter: www.aliexpress.com/item/959062486.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.0.0.68e41802gh61FT
Lucky you. I had to do a road trip in the same 2nd generaton e-up in winter. The charging was even worse. From my experience, the hotter outside, the faster the charging. Try doing this in -10°C outside temperature. The charging speeds as well as the performance is appaling. I can compare with the old e-up, with half the capacity. It would charge from 5% to 100% on DC always under 30 minutes. Regardless of temperature. I did not test rapidgating with it, as I did not drive longer than two DC fart charges in a row. Maybe the third would have taken a bit more. But the new e-up is a joke compared to the old one in terms of charging. The old one took up to 50 kW, with the new one I did not get more than 34 kW, and even that only when the outside temperature was above 30°C and only for a short time between 20% and 25% SOC. It quickly decreased to 24kW and above 80% SOC it is not uncommon to be in the single digits in kW of charging power.
Hi, which OBD adapter did you use? Do I need a special app for this and does this adapter also work with the e Golf? Thanks

Hi Stefan please see this video for all the information about this: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hT47A1CghR0.html And yes, it should also work with an e-Golf. I own the eup 2nd gen, this car is best to use within range of 200km. Best and also most convenient way to charge it is a slow 230volt charging from home socket. I barely use my combustion car since I got this. And this small vehicle easily packs 2kids in theit seats and 2 adults. It makes more sense to me than those big bulky electric suvs.
we have Eup 1st generation and citigo ... the eup charges lot of quicker (it has half of the batery size but also if you compare the same size the 1 st generation charges quicker) ... i would say its because vw tries to carry more about battery in 2nd generation ...so the charging its little bit slower ..... also I made 500km trip with citigo ...half of the road on high speed roadway cruise control 115/kmh ... with 3 charges ...1st small on the way there 20 min... one to full battery in destination (I have stuff to do there but the full battery charge was 1 a half hour) and 1 small on the way back ......and we did twice the 350km trip with eup 1st generation before we had citigo ... it is quite a lot charges but it charges really quick ...
Have the Citigo iV. Drove it 700 km with 3 times CCS at 33 degree. All time Soc was 8-10% at start. 38-39 kW are possible. Battery temperature was always lower then 40°. For this little car ok, and ok for me. I do not need charging in 5 minutes, as 99% of my drives are inside 100 km circle of my home castle.
I don't know how that was possible for you, 33 degrees is already also pretty hot. I got 42 degree battery temp after the second charge going from 20% to 60% only!
Hi!!! Nice review could you tell me what's the app name that you are using to monitor de stats? Best regards

Hi Franco, please see this video for all the information about this: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hT47A1CghR0.html This is the link where I bought my adapter: www.aliexpress.com/item/959062486.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.0.0.68e41802gh61FT
Are there any affordable ev's where it would be significantly less of a pain in the ass to cover 500 miles? Is this the current state of travel by ev or is this more of a fun little experiment like the Revzilla CTXP guys going nut- to-butts, cross country, on the Dumb and Dumber minibike?
Why are electric cars still sold without active thermal management of the battery? It was a compromise *almost* acceptable ten years ago. Today it's completely unacceptable. How much could a fan, a radiator and some piping possible cost?
Might sound like a few euros, but given the alrdy really low price of the e-up, it would make it cost prbly a few k more Vw doesn't really make profit in these afaik
sounds like maybe if the battery degrades enough to get a new car at 5 years, they might be able to sell a whole new car. idk, i'm sticking with gasoline car for 5 more years minimum
The Seat and Skoda versions of this were sold for 15k€ or even less. They were sold at a loss for emission credits (real build value around 20k and profiting sale for 25k€). There was absolutely no room for ANY more advanced drivetrain at 15k€ lol. They are/were very goof for the price, even without the active thermal management. You can barely get a moped car (aixam) with that money and the UP is no moped car.
Because this car is nearly unchanged since it first launched in 2013. The only but important big change was the 32 kWh battery in 2019, before it was only 16 kWh. And 2025 when ID1 launches they will discontinue the e-Up. ID1 launch was first planed for 2023, but it got delayed like many other things.
Then why do pilots have to take in to account the earths curvature for their flight plans to have the best time and fuel efficiency? Explain why planes can’t go to a destination in a straight line projected on a flat map otherwise they would end up somewhere random due to the curve?
