This fabulous single by R.L.S. from Jefferson, Georgia, probably influenced the mighty R.E.M. from Athens, Georgia, to record their angry and hard rocking album "Monster", which came out in 1994 and is an underrated masterpiece.
This was a great single, owing a great debt to late 60's Beatles and Stones, but obviously also having great influence on 90's bands like Oasis. Unfortunately TIMM didn't succeed back in the 70's. By the way: The sun on the album cover was taken by Klaatu for their debut album from 1976.
Unfortunately this great single by The Attempts didn't cause a ripple back in 1979. Maybe it was because they looked like some US hippie band from 1969. ;-) Nevertheless a fascinating mixture between Power Pop and some Dire Straits influences in the guitar work.
I just realized that in the 50s the expression "doo-wop" was the white version of the N word in rap music, used mostly when a couple of additional syllables were needed to complete a bar. Please keep unearthing these gems so I can continue my research.
Oh I’ve heard of these characters online imposed “fuck boys” and the white women that get caught in them I glanced at their women hurt blogs some years back briefly. When I saw these men I could see that they aren’t real people and didn’t like the growth of them as attempted supermodels on instagram as fashion. but it hasn’t been a real thing that I’ve encountered ever.
