Kurzweil is what you get when your company is all Steve Wozniaks and no Steve Jobs. Everyone was focused on building the ultimate wonky sonic architecture and DSP. No one was thinking about the user experience of playing, controlling, and connecting with a physical instrument, which happens to be one of the things people love about acoustic instruments.
I have an autographed copy of The Singularity is Near from a speech he gave at my workplace about ten years ago. I also went to university with his daughter. Last I checked, he was trying to live until the singularity. Where is Mr. Kurzweil now? Hope he's well.
Mr Ray. Thank you for your Kurzweil brand. It is an amazing product with incredible sounds. One thing I have to say is that I just realized that Ray Kurzweil does resemble Chevy Chase.
Kurzweil was the bees knees in the late 80’s and 90’s. The Bosendorfer sampling and their action had them ahead of everyone in the stage piano market anyway. I seem to recall Stevie always playing Yamaha during this time period. Guess I’m remembering it wrong though. Seem to never see big boys playing Kurzweil anymore.
I have owned two Kurzweil keyboards. The tones sound wonderful. I like the feel of playing their keyboards. The design of the board is aesthetically pleasing. But, I got away from them now. I like a low cost keyboard with backing rhythms, such as a Casio CDP-S350.

Does anyone know where I could purchase the "Kurzweil PC3K German D Grand Expansion"? I have KORE64, but would also like that piano expansion. I see mention of it (along w/the KORE64) on Kurzweil's website, but I just can't seem to find it for purchase, anywhere. I've tried eBay, & various online music stores, & even Kurzweil direct, but no luck. Personally I don't understand the concept of designing & manufacturing a product that's intended for sale, if one doesn't actually intend to make it available for purchase. (pretty dumb IMO)
K2000 users used to share "patches" over the net (by a mailing list!). Daneil Fisher shared a one finger reproduction of On the Run he wrote for Pink Floyd live performances. It was *_not_* a sample, but a complex patch that you could modify as you played it.

WHERE CAN I GET SUPPORT? 1) How to set the tempo of a song to a mode where tempo does not change when I change to another song. 2) How to set a foot switch for start/stop of song? 3) When in record, used to be able to hold enter and then hold down a key to erase that key on my 2500. Very handy when programming drums. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHERE I CAN GET TECH SUPPORT. Thanks.
He always talks of the future but we all want a new analog poly synth today. A moog still sounds bigger than anything they ever put out so how about they set a new gold standard for analog sound? Get on it.
Bring out a new fully analog poly and you will be really doing something. You did digital well but the real challenge would be a top analog. Do you have it in you? Probably not.
The PC3K's piano is not even close to being the most realistic out there. It's a technical impossibility. For the most part, piano sounds are about samples. The more samples, the more realistic the sound. The Korg Kronos has 9 Gigabytes of piano samples alone, whereas the TOTAL capacity of ALL the internal waveforms on the PC3K = 128 Megabytes. Roland's V-Piano is the most realistic piano out there, with the Kronos a close 2nd & Yamaha Motif XF coming in 3rd. (& close to thePC3K)
