I wonder if you were to get new fobs and totally reprogram your car to only recognize the new fobs if that would alleviate the risk of being able to program a fob based on the VIN, or is that coding hard coded into the body control module? I’m thinking if you in essence replace the OEM fobs and coding with the replacement ones and their coding if then you could no longer program a fob based only on the VIN.
I’m going to be honest, I didn’t see the Dodge video until now. After looking and hearing it, I honestly have mixed thoughts. As much as I would want to believe it’s a 6.4 hemi or even twin turbo hemi, I have doubts. To believe it’s a V8 in any variant, I would have to believe Stellantis is finally listening and hearing what the public wants and let’s be frank, Stellantis isn’t know for being smart. I’m more inclined to believe it’s an EV with pump in and out sound to mimic a V8 engine like the old BMW i8 but those sounds for the BMW were internal speakers not external. But who knows I truly want to believe it’s. 6.4 hemi with this new body style which I do like, but I just don’t know. Im more in belief that’s it’s an EV with added V8 sounds.
It's a POS EV. No doubt about it. That sound may not even be coming from that "vehicle". It could have been dubbed in. They do that all the time in movies and TV shows.
If they aren't going to make anything what's the point. Yes it's the name plate we know but it's kind of out of anyone hands if they don't make anything to sell or even something on the way. Some higher-ups had a plan to do them in for a while now. It's very strange
I see this as a way for Stilantis to kill off the dying Dodge name plate without taking a huge hit. They offloaded their inventory, refused buyback, and now they can let the Dodge name go down in a Lawsuit. Since it’s likely a separate entity, RAM will walk away unscathed. Once complete, as an agreement for existing Dodge customers, they can service their vehicles at RAM dealerships.
Very questionable, it sounds like a V8 of sorts, but could be a good exhaust that makes the Hurricane sound like a V8 or combination of Hurricane and the electronic sounds they have clambered about. The tunnel kind of distorts the sound of knowing for sure and a small clip.
If a real V8, it's likely a one-off that will never see the light of day as a production unit and will remain in a basement garage somewhere. But at the same time, I wouldn't be surprised if they planned on making a production run from the jump.
At this point of the game it won't matter as most ppl are not fond paying $70K for a 5.7L V8 let alone $80K for the 6.4L assuming that Stellantis actally made the platform changes. I myself am not fond of the new design specially the interior pisses me off, either way I don't want that POS EV let alone a overpriced V8.
I worked at FCA from 2014-2021. I do my best to not call it Stellantis. Sergio Marchionne had that place humming when he died. We were believers. Mike Manley was in over his head and decided to just cash out his chips, selling out everything Sergio had built to Taveras. I got a real bad vibe immediately. I could tell my bosses didn’t know where they stood and there was so much chaos. It was hard before, but it felt like a small family of underdogs pulling itself out of the great recession. Sad times for America ahead.

BYD would make the Dodge cars probably even better, but the question is if they will be built in the US... To be cheaper, then probably they would have to be built in China, or same price as leaked for the Daytona EV but in the US. But if there is a slight chance that they will be built in the US, and about 10% cheaper than what Stellantis is asking for the Daytona EV with 30% more range and better quality, then why the hell not?
I recently test drove an e torque 5.7 and HAULED off the line. However, the brake pedal on the truck went to the floor before it would stop. And i pulled the coolant reservoir dipstick and it looked like it had been used to stir rust soup with. I told the dealer people about it and they put the truck right back out on the lot after i told them it wasn't a safe truck to drive. They brought out a 2nd truck for me to look at and it had been entirely repainted for god only knows what reason, and the paint was peeling out of of the driver's door seam and bottom inside of the driver's door. Then while i was standing next to the truck, with it off and the driver door open, the odometer was rolling, changing numbers as i stood there and watched it while it was off. 🤦
I have my ole Dodge Grand Caravan GT 2020 the last year made and I'm still sporting it with my young little children. I got 120,876 Miles on it we travel to Saratoga, Ca and then back to Roseburg, Oregon about 6 times a year in this van. My children are very young though they will remember the long 7-hour drives to the SF Bay Area, going over to the South Bay near San Jose. Dodge was at the great price when I was looking at other Ford SUVs and so on, But I noticed the Ford prices has doubled and I just gave up on their high prices on vehicles that have way too many recalls by the Feds and more recalls on the way and they want $68,900 for a Ford that is going to break down, the doors may fly open while driving or the engine my catch on fire due to the brake system ABS leaking on Hot 12V fuse box. I just walk away and went with Dodge this time, I'm not at all a Chevy GM person no thank you.
why would you buy something thats more spensive slower and requires maintenance on the level of a small baby, when you can buy somethjng lkke a tesla plaud instead? heck, even the cybertruck isnin the same league....
I can see BYD bringing back the big v8's cause they will make what the customer wants. They're not tone death to customer chatter. In China, the competition between EV makers is super intense, so they will do whatever to cater to the customers.

Very possible! especially at this moment. Profits can be made in many different ways, but such intricate transactions should only be handled by seasoned market professionals.

rhat chrysler will be sold to byd seem pretty straightforward at this point in time. however, i am not sure they want the manufacturing, and i am pretty sure they won't continue to build atellantis plattforms. more likely, they would be interested in the factory to avoid tarrifs, and they could assemble their own cars under the chrysler brand. likewise chrysler is well known in europe which would open up the european market under this brand name (saaic did this with mg, a british brand). i dont see v8 coming back though. simply not profitable.
