I've spent the most part of my life fishing, I was virtually born into it. Fishing for me is my passion and purpose in life, and I want to share all of my experiences big and small with you. Now fishing isn't always easy, no matter how hard you try there's always some factor that is out of your control, and I always say that it's 80% luck/ 20% skill!
You see to put your traps in a biological desert., no habitat for crab food.. Put traps near scrubs and brush and trees.. Big crabs are not in bare sand! Good luck..
My advice for lay out is have a few beers and just stand there and look it everyday for a week and draw everything down, also build in a rod box so you don't have rods sticking up in your way and getting caught on mangrove (im guessing you know what i mean 😅) and last but not least B ust O ut A nother T housand 😂
@@BrisVegasFishing yeah man so much better, i have an old tender from Brisbane micat i decked it with aluminium frame and ply and carpet all on the cheap, casting deck up front, fuel tank underneath that, and made the rod box along the gunnel with a hinged lid strong enough to stand on with a long plug in anchor light (because i hate anchor light in my face) clipped underneath lid, hinged 5/8 floor where i stow click together oars and whatever else and side compartments for tackle, life jackets blah blah, built in box for a live tank that i never put a tank in🙄, the thing is only 3.7 but theres plenty of room for 2 or even 3 but i prefer just me lol, got all the aluminium sections from capral aluminium at kunda park was very cheap at the time 10 years ago bummings had FA and total rip off, all the framework was put together with sika and 316 ss rivets very very stong 👍
Yes it had an old 60 hp Johnson 2 smoker . Did you fit the Yamaha 70 tiller on your other boat yourself from new or was it off another boat. How do you find the Yamaha and will you do the same to this boat ie tiller setup? Thanks Josh appreciate your videos
We had Sunshine Coast Yamaha fit it for us back in 2017. I’ve put over 500 hours on it since then, love the reliability of it and we just like the responsiveness of having the tiller arm. But I’d say we will go with forward controls and put a 115 or even 130 on the back 👌
Thanks mate. I’m really happy with the condition of it, there is one small hole they’ve patched up in the past. But other than that it’s in great shape.
Nice mate, keen to see the finished product in the future!! Always interesting watching the process of a boat rebuild, it’s definitely something I want to do myself one day 👌🎣
Hey mate , looking forward to watcthing this series of episodes. I recently aquired an old bondwood runabout and was considering modifying it into an open fishing boat like yours with the 70 tiller. Just weiging up if it’s going to be worth it. The hull and transom are solid / no rot. Just wondering if it’s a headache to repower in regards to compliance / build plate etc. Would be interested in your thoughts. Ps really enjoy all your videos . Cheers
Good to hear mate. Appreciate the support. I’ve got so many plans and ideas for it. If the hull and transom are good sounds like a load off 😅 is it already compliance plated?
Would I swim in any salt water or river connected to the ocean here in SEQ, not a chance. Canals and such are riddled with bulls. I know one family whose kids were swimming not far from bull sharks without even knowing when earlier that day a dog was chased out of the water by a shark. Also know someone who used to go to magic millions years ago and they said you would see the sharks in the water
After what happened in WA, catch and release will probably be banned because research proves most released fish die. Hopefully these RU-vid videos will be a thing of the past. I have only caught eels and catfish in the Brisbane River and the pollution is insane.
My father did some of the work, but most of it was done by my grandfather. He’s an old boat builder. Gonna be having a crack myself on my new boat soon. So a lot of those videos will be up on the channel
always carry a spare pair of sunnies in the boat you might drop a pair over board or stand on them etc it pays off in the end mate. remember mate Spectacles, Testicles, Wallet and Watch oh and winch handle, we all have those days mate.
Hey guys awsome video.. I was wondering I fish at the port of Brisbane boat ramp. I use grub with 1/16 jig head. But haven had any luck. What do you think. Should I use different lures or fish in diffrent spot
All depends on where you’re fishing aye. If you’re working super shallow areas than by all means go light. But if you’re targeting those deeper areas, definitely go a heavy jighead and find some of those higher current spots. Fish love current.
Normally running jerkbaits. It’s probably more of a preference than anything else, but they work well. The g.loomis really puts the hurt on em and the shimano curado goes alright.
