Food-lover, part-time caterer and culinary school graduate who's hoping to connect with beginner cooks or those needing some fresh inspiration. I love encouraging and empowering others to get in the kitchen and believe they can cook. Food and people are a few of my passions, along with talking about food and what makes a delightful bite! Hope you enjoy.
Being a single man, I've been looking for simple and easy recipes. This one has both, with the added bonus of being delicious. Thanks so very much......any others?
You don't have to freeze the can of cream of coconut, just put the cream of coconut in the refrigerator until it's very cold then freeze the bowl you're going to whip the cream of coconut in.
I hear you and you're right...especially when cooking for other people. I make most of the things I feature for myself and my husband so, not too concerned about it in that case. Especially considering I wash my hands before cooking 🙂
Feb 2024... This too shall pass! This is just the primer I needed to remember how Mom and me used to do it. She's 3,000 miles away and has the flu, (yep, the plain ol' flu,) and we needed details. Thanks, Be Well ❤
All I have is a large mixing bowl. Really was hoping to use a 9x13 casserole dish. Wouldn’t be as pretty to show the layers but functional and easy to serve. What do you think?
Hi and thanks for tuning in! I think that would totally work. You could even "dome" up your ingredients ia little in the dish. A glass mixing bowl would work too. Honestly, the glass is just to show the pretty layers. Hope you enjoy!
Hello! Yes. I took a break and it became a really long break, followed by a kitchen remodel that just finally got finished. Toying with the idea of coming back! The 30 second tiktok format isn't my thing so if people still want the longer for education videos, I may start up again. Thanks for the kind words!
I'm so glad! There's lots of flexibility with what you add here and simple and easy is the name of the game. Thanks for tuning in! And congratulations on baby #2!
Thank you for this wonderful recipe! I've been looking for an apple and onion jam that I could can and your video was the first and only one to pop up in my feed. I wiil make this for the holidays.
She doesn’t tell us the recipe . How much creme de menthe . And just for her information, if you use peppermint, use PINK coloring . The green is for spearmint .
Hey there! Thanks for tuning in. The full recipe is under the video description. Click where it says "show more" and it'll drop down with all the info. And for those reading comments...it's 4 T creme de menthe. There's no food coloring in the recipe...just the creme de menthe which gives the green appearance.
Kroger has all these items as well, I actually just made a version of this meal, used soy and Italian sausage for the kick. Delicious! Also use garlic paste like the ginger.
I made this dish this week and it was very tasty! We used feta instead of goat cheese and my youngest has requested not to use puff pastry next time so i might try a pie crust but will be making this again.
Suggestion…never cook with sesame oil. Sesame oil should be added as a finisher or garnish. So try adding it to your dish once you are done cooking. Add it off the heat and then toss in. When added during cooking process sesame oil loses its flavor.
I was hoping to find a knock-off recipe for the KokoHead smoked ahi spread so I'll give this one a try! I needed a couple of snacks to take to the super bowl party. I'm using liquid smoke, too, since it is too chilly to fuss with the smoker. I also have a few cans of yellowfin tuna (fin meat of ahi tuna) to use instead of albacore. My husband's cousins' families always served the dip with a bowl of Hawaiian Kettle Chips sweet Maui onion flavor and I managed to locate some here in my part of the country. Fingers crossed that it turns out as good as the spread we enjoyed on Oahu.
Don’t know what I did wrong but my cake did not taste good. It had no flavor and it was dry. I did not over beat or over bake it. Used all the correct ingredients 😞
Ugh! I'm so sorry! I wish I could tell you how to fix it. I will say it's not a strong flavored cake and the glaze offers much of the flavor. Thanks for checking out my site.
I'm not everyone's cup of tea ;-) I definitely like to explain allll the things. This was one of my earlier videos and long before TikTok was giving you recipes in under 30 seconds. That is probably more your lane. Thanks for checking this out anyways!
Looks wonderful but the problem that I see with it being so full is is when people go to take out the salad it’s gonna make a mess all over the place just to get it out. So I would put a little less layers in there so it wouldn’t make such a mess
You're not the only one thinking about this! ;-) I replied to another person's comment and address a few options but yours is another option to add. You can also serve it in a wider and shallower dish. Thanks for tuning in!
These layered salads DO look beautiful and what puts me off (maybe stupidity) is no one has ever answered 'How you do you get to that goodness in the bottom??"
That's a great question! A few options...accept that the first "scoops" will be a bit of a mess :-) Another option is to use a long serrated knife and saw through the first portion, from top to bottom, and then use a large spoon to scoop it out. And lastly, make the salad in a more shallow glass dish/bowl. Hope that helps! And thanks for tuning in.
Cilantro tastes like soap for 3 separate times you eat it. After that our brain stops firing soap. So everyone gors through that phenomena and perhaps even 5 times. Cook it in chili to speed up switching brain off sooner then pretty soon you will crave it.
No way would I make this as a dish to pass. Everybody's hands getting in the bowl? Unless you have reallyLONG tongs. The mistake I see everyone make on these is the bowl is not DEEP enough. Too much lettuce. Maybe put lettuce on side to start, all toppings in clear bowl? Grossed out by hands in hair. Then hands in the food?! Sorry.
I missed the hair thing so went back. My mom made hers in a 9X13 glass baking dish and didn't use as much lettuce because it takes up so much space. Because we made ours with canned salmon, it was wetter so she used a large metal spoon to serve it. If its made too far ahead of time the wetter ingredients start to lose water. Absolutely extra lettuce on the side minus any hair and hands
