Hi Friends! My name is Melanie and I am the owner of Lost & Found, a vintage painted furniture and home decor business. For almost 10 years now, I have been painting and thrifting my way to a beautiful home on a budget. I believe you shouldn't have to be rich to be proud of your home! In fact, with a little paint and some hunted-down decor, you can style a home that is unique and tells a story, all without breaking the bank. Here on my channel I will be sharing with you my tips for how you can learn to paint and transform your own furniture. I'll also share my love of decorating with thrifted and vintage finds. I also am passionate about small creative businesses, specifically antique booth and painted furniture businesses, and I'll be passing along my best business tips here as well. Thanks for joining me! #antiqueboothtips #diyhomedecor #paintedfurnitureideas #paintedfurnituretips
Thanks for this! I'm a few years younger (33) but have rheumatoid arthritis so I've been nervous to give crossfit a go. I feel much better about trying it now!
So in my mall when I ask what is selling I get the same answer "it's just a variety of everything"! So I am not getting a straight answer. I have two booths that were once offices so I get lots of privacy! Currently I have one room 'guy geared' and the other is for 'the ladies'! So I want to switch it up! I want to do one whole room just for kitchen items! The other would be more of a modge podge of other items! I just want to try it out! I really haven't found my groove yet and am still searching! We will be moving our mall to a bigger location in November! I will be taking on a third booth when that happens! I need to definitely improve on my pricing! That is a real struggle with me! I love doing this! I just want and need to improve! I was really happy that in May I made the top 5 sellers! That to me proves I can succeed!
This is heartbreaking. In Austin, Texas, one of our Antique Malls closed after many years. It was such as loss to our community. I hope that the vintage community in your area finds a great space to rebuild and start afresh. Good luck to you my friend.
Thank you for taking us along! Your space looked AMAZING!!! I'm sure it was a LOT of work and wore you out, but a great experience! Enjoyed watching the young people help and your son showing off! 😂
Wow lots of stuff but way over priced items. It is my experience especially if the selling prices on furniture is too high you will get to take them home and not move them.
Your booth looked great and I saw many wonderful pieces. It looks to be an amazing amount of time and work but you all did great. If I lived closer, I would definitely have attended.
I actually need a chamber pot at my log cabin. No power , no plumbing , - 32 degrees below zero in winter. Too much snow to go to the biffy in the dark. Scary cougars and.moose. Bears are sleeping. Greetings 10 miles N of Washington state in Canuk Land.
I’d add some trim around the tent to draw attention, all the areas looked the same, if allowed I’d use garland, flags to draw people in. Just an idea. Your items are beautiful, I try to keep things simple becuz it’s mostly me who’d be doing the work lol, in my area people like digging thru boxes and I try to have boxes of that type so they can get their digging in…my best to you
I loved your booth. It was very inviting and just the right balance of items. I don’t think it was overcrowded, like someone else stated. You have to have some abundance because it’s a special event and you don’t have a back room to stock. You did great for your first time!
Melanie, as always your staging and setup is impeccable and fun! So glad you have 4 strong men in your household to help you set up and tear down, the hardest part of doing a show. You have such a great eye for pieces and you had quite the selection. Enjoyed that you were able to take us along for the experience!
I’ve found bringing only items I can easily carry and aren’t bigger than I am, sell better. Your booth looked amazing with a great variety of unique items.
Boy, I hope you sold a LOT so that you didn't have to pack up too much. Idk, Melanie, it seems so exhausting. You have enough inventory to fully stock your own store. Thanks for sharing your experience. A real-time look-see is very helpful. Get some rest now! 😅
Oh my gosh! How very interesting, entertaining, and enlightening. Of course, intellectually I was aware of how much work is involved in the set up/tear down process but actually seeing it in action gives whole different perspective. You are lucky to have family members who can and will help with all the lifting and carrying. I'm unfamiliar with the Junk Ranch show but now that I have seen it, I'll be watching to see if it could somehow fit in a travel schedule. Your booth was well designed and carried lots of interesting items. From the looks of the show, I would think it is a "feather in your cap" to be a vendor here and I think it is well deserved. Thanks for sharing.
