@@gdk_music It may be barely enough, but it sounds and looks very brutal. I compare with mine, have a .170 by 35" and I also like to play the bass an octave lower in tracks where the bass is recorded in unison with the guitars and where this is not enough, where the string has time to walk) My limit is 19.4 Hz, it feels like a clothesline, in russia it’s difficult to get thick strings :) You showed me my dream, thank you) I hope the Google translation turned out funny
Thanks, sub octave brother! It's quite difficult to mix such a low tuned bass. For that gnarly tone I put a bass track through a guitar amp VST (Archetype Gojira) in parallel to Helix Native bass preset. I used to play 35" Schecter bass, trying out strings up to .232 (it was kinda unplayable). For me .200 is the comfortable limit. Floppy strings can actually sound good - my .160 string in low E sounded better than .176. Too thick strings ruins the tone a lot. Try Kalium strings, if they won't ship to Russia, you can place an order through an intermediary. Not cheap, but worth it. D'addario and Ernie Ball never sounded good below Drop A, in my expirience
