My brother went to medical school and is a surgeon making probably more than that anesthetist. But imagine if he or that young lady had become ill partway through their schooling, and we’re not able to finish. I think that’s why Dave says it’s not a good idea. Even if it makes sense.
I’ve been born again 41 years, raised two sons as a single mom & by the grace of God they became honorable men and one is a Pastor. I sowed my time and money into their lives and education, community outreaches and ministries instead of wisely putting aside some to invest for myself. I had taken Financial Peace University years ago before my son James Gonsoulin became a pastor and I am debt-free, but have to take responsibility for being 69 years young and not having taken better care of myself financially. I’ve also sown any extra I had into two nonprofit projects the Lord gave me a vision for and preparing to publish a book I’ve written with my testimony. I’ve lived humbly in order to continue working on them, But obviously you don’t get any respect for not being financially on top of things and I definitely don’t want to dishonor God for not being able to leave and inheritance for my children and grandchildren. So praying I’ll get this part of my life together too soon
I do agree with Dave in many aspects. Like some things though wealth induces arrogance in some people. The world in general needs to humble themselves in every way. I try to adhere to this principle, the world though does not want humble people. We need to be brothers and sisters of Christ.
My own parents now passed were led to believe that their financial goal was to die broke on purpose, and when they both passed that is what happened. From my observation, it killed my dad, who spent his last five years on a lounging chair yelling at TV news and over eating.
Matthew 7; 11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
9:59 For a pastor to have worked all of those years and retire completely broke is actually a bad witness. That they’ve not been diligent. That they not been disciplined. Wow! Where do you even start with the levels of depravity layered into that statement. At the absolute very least it is bearing false witness against pastors who intentionally forego the temporal and meaningless for the eternal and priceless and to share that with others. Money and wealth do not signal virtue nor does the lack of wealth signal being a bad witness. In Ramsey’s warped world view 💰💰 represents success and being broke signals failure. There are far more pastors who leave lucrative business opportunities to pursue ministry and live paycheck to paycheck than there are pastors who own mansions and jets. By Ramsey’s logic, it is the Joel Osteens of the world that are the good witnesses while it is the rural bivocational pastor living paycheck to paycheck who is the bad witness. 🙄 The reality is, being financially broke and spiritually rich at the end of your life is a far better witness than being financially rich and spiritually broke. Ramsey takes a secular world view and dresses it up with Churchianity jargon to make it seem righteous.
One of the major problems for pastors is the cost of seminary education. Virtually all pastors who do not attend a denominational seminary take out student loans which make it very difficult for them so save because their salaries do not increase at the same rate as someone in the private sector. But pastors also are not always aware of some of the advantages they get, such as being able to divide their "salary" into salary proper and housing. Anything connected to housing is not included in their income for tax purposes. So all churches should be making it possible for pastors to buy their own homes, rather than giving them a parsonage to live in. Example: A pastor has a salary of $75,000. He takes that salary as $40,000 for his salary and $35,000 for housing. He would pay taxed only on the $40,000. Pastors need to work only with advisers who know all the tax breaks for pastors to maximize the income they do have. Even the pest control visit is deductible under housing expenses for a pastor.
Does he need some more money? Tell him to learn about BTC and how to trade it. I began learning four years ago and I have enough to last until the Rapture. I'm going to trade, travel and tell people how Jesus took me through forty years of addition and He bought me out right before We leave. What we are watching is; A once true democracy, Becoming a technocracy, By the hand of hypocrisy, To a world of apostasy. What they do not know and fail to see, This is a bow for the show for the Bride to be! And when We leave this forsaken land, They will know, the time is at hand! I know we live in a Republic but it doesn't rhyme, So I have to use Democracy all of the time.😊 Old Glory Glory last night seemed a decade ago, As I watched a dream, from a broken window. I'm down the hill and in the space where echoes force my hand, I wipe the tears up from my face, As He unfolds His plan. Until the time when mountains speak, And after what they've said, The afterlife my heart does seek, I take my daily bread. Of all the things left with me, In all I leave behind, The treasures of this earth will be, In Heaven I'll have all kinds. Dave’s attitude towards money is not biblical. He routinely tells people to destroy their family over money, whether it’s charity to a family member in need, or issues in a family business. Money comes before family to Dave, and if the two are in conflict, money wins. He also is not godly in the way he communicates, with out of control anger, nastiness and bitterness as his standard tone. He grasps for money in an avaricious way, and preaches mistreating people over money. Like a dog with a bowl of food will growl and bite anyone who gets near it. That’s Dave. Pastors should receive enough to live on comfortably. The congregation has a responsibility to take care of them. They should not get rich. If they do get rich, they should give most of it away. To the church, and to the poor. Super-rich celebrity preachers are a blight on the gospel, they are always corrupted by it, they always compromise on doctrine, they almost always fall to sin, and the fame goes to their head. And as a result they defame God’s name to the world. This is one of the greatest flaws of the American church. If your true allegiance is to God, not money, and you are an example as a teacher, you must set the example of following the word to its fullest extent, which means giving away everything you don’t need, at a minimum.
Warren Buffett is one of top 10 richest person in the world and the #1 investor. Over 90 and still working. Because he wants to not because he has to. I was raised poor, retired financially free in my 40s and will never work again for money. Thanks to Financial Peace, Dave Ramsey and Warren Buffett. Christ and his disciples had the mission of spreading the gospel. That was their priority at the time. Not financial freedom. They did not have Warren Buffett, Dave Ramsey, the stock market, the best economy in the world, and the Bible spread and explained so that we all can be financially free... What's your excuse...😉
Looking forward to hearing this. Not been the best follower but a Dave listener and fan for years. How does one approach the idea of religion to their spouse? We’re both 38. Married for 15 years. Both grew up non religious. I’m becoming curious and any time I touch on the subject she immediately scoffs at the idea. I’m not weaponizing it or beating her over the head with the Bible. I just dip my toe every once in a while in regular conversation and I meet a brick wall.
Pray and ask God to reveal more of Himself to you and pray that He opens your wife’s heart to be receptive to learning about Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
Start attending church. You don't need to ask her to go with you. I did this I started going and after 2 months of consistently going, one Sunday morning my husband decided to join me. He's been going ever since it's been almost 3 years. Sometimes you just have to take that step.

Yes and if we are going off what rich is then that's all of us. It's really a heart issue that money magnifies. If you earn 45,000US per year you are in the top 1% of the WORLD - yep up there with celebrities statically speaking. Jesus talks more about money then heaven and hell combined, he talks more about money then faith and love combined. Money's not the issue it's the love of money - it becomes a counterfeit God if we aren't careful
@@ShannonMargaretWilson I think it's a clear message about money and possessions from Jesus & John. Luke 12:33 Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. Luke 3:11 John replied, “If you have two shirts, give one to the poor. If you have food, share it with those who are hungry.”
