Hi @glenncharles6622, I'm a fan. I also like the looks, it's performing well, easy installation as you can see herein, and the sound is much better, but not too loud. Hope that helps!
Hi @hohn7794, thanks for your comments. It's interesting as leaving the cap on seems to me would prevent proper connection when plugged in to the port. Since November 2023, it's worked like a charm using it as I have noted herein, and the lights on the charging device confirm proper connection and operation. Hope that helps. Thx!
You bet, here you go" issuu.com/dr.chrisstout/stacks/1d8fdb45a108493880c10e577f9e3450 I hope you find it useful. Please ping me if you need anything more or different that I may be o help with.
UPDATE: Just received confirmation that I set two new records Land Speed Racing at the Arkansas Mile, certified by the East Coast Timing Association: MS8/6TG at 168.099MPH Record for 2-km and MS8/6CG at 167.723MPH for 2-km.
Thanks this was really helpful, just one comment which may be useful to somebody, the notch cut into the air intake tip should be on the outside (furthest from the bike) to allow the clamp on the cover to come far enough up to allow the T25 holes to line up.
Changed my stock can for a SC Project. I love the sound when the idle is normal but man does it sound obnoxious on a cold start.. I hate that part. It's hard to cope with in a quiet neighbourhood.
Hi @robsonenduro3316, I believe they would certainly protect the surface of the cylinder heads from any abrasions. The pads between the engine and the protector would also buffer the hit. Having said that, if you are looking for the highest level of protection, there are a number of products available that bolt to the frame and would offer the best protection - not just with static drops but also with moving impact. Hope that helps?
@@DrChrisStout Just to say I had installed a short exhaust similar in style but the trouble was it sounded great, but because it was so short the noise became an uncomfortable drone in my ears. The longer silencer takes that away from you therefore more comfortable journeys, and your ears don't take a pounding from high decibels. That's my learning experience.
Greetings @hgm8337, thanks for your question. I'd say the OEM shock is OK for me and the way I ride it in my area (Door County Wisconsin). Having said that, I have not bothered to monkey with trying out various adjustments, and (someday) I hope to have my wife along for a ride, so I may tweak it, and if/when I do, I'll make a video and post it. As for headers, no not yet. Here's my reasoning for my situation - I don't want to risk futzing up the warranty, I love the bluing that has started on the originals, I'm not familiar with the ones you mentioned (post a link for us all here to take a looksee), and in 2025 I plan on building a track/LSR project, so I'm pretty much done spending on this project. Thanks!
How did you remove the gap between the cap and the mirror?? I just installed mine and I also have that gap. I saw your other video where the gap is no longer there. Thanks.
Hi @mauleon01 good eye! Thanks for watching more than one episode, and for your great question. At first, I thought that was just how it would be on the bike, and after doing some additional fiddling (and muscling) I was able to get that "initial bolt" deeper into the the handlebar, if you know what I mean. I was being very cautions not to strip the threads and I was concerned with overtightening it. So, on your bike, try getting that initial bolt threaded just about all the way to the grip. Then the mirror ring-connection will fully cover that bolt's head. The result is a flush surface for the cosmetic end piece to snug down on. I hope that makes sense and will work for you. Ride safe.
Hey guys only way you need a battery tender if you keep the battery that came in the car. On my 2013 GS are my 2017 zo6 I use deep cycle battery like a yellow top on my car they set sometimes for months and they always start every time, also don’t used a battery tender on deep cycle battery it will kill a deep cycle battery.
@@DrChrisStout I love your car looks great. I been through a lot about battery in a corvette over the years and learned a lot. Tell you something else if you drive your car at least once a week don’t use that tender because it will take life out of that battery but if you store it for couple months by all means use the tender unless you have a deep cycle battery then there’s no need. Keep driving my corvette brothers people love see that car and you can’t help it because you will meet new friends…….
Hello @Jazz31000 Thanks and thanks for the question. Please see the link in my show notes. There you will see "Compatible with BMW motorcycles with M12 threaded handlebar ends, m.View Bar Adapters provide a clamping surface for Motogadget m.View bar end mirrors. This enables the fitment of m.View mirrors without needing to move handlebar controls inward or shorten grips." I hope that helps? Please let me know and post pics once your done with your mods. Ride safe.
Nice CTEK charger. I have a couple used on my other cars and motorcycles for years and have been very pleased with CTEK. Much better than the “Battery Tender” brand. When my C8 comes in a couple months, this model will be on mine also when the C8 is not in use for a few days. I was wondering about the light function in the frunk. Good job on the video. Drive safe.
Thanks, and good to know re: CTEK, it's my first time using that brand. The light in the frunk shuts it self off after the first click is done. Actually, I think it would do so after about 10 or so minutes regardless (but i have not tried it), as the system likes to save power on its own when something is on and the engine is not. I hope than answers your question? If not, please respond back. I know you'll enjoy your C8, congratulations.
Ha, thanks, a bit of "lost in translation" as it were as "pillion" is a term not used where I live. And "pinion," since you asked, is "the outer part of a bird's wing including the flight feathers" and "a round gear-usually the smaller of two meshed gears-used in several applications, including drivetrain and rack and pinion systems." In my use here you can think of it as my use of the wrong word. 🙂
Hi @TommyCentral1901, in my garage situation, the wall socket was closer to the nose of the frunk/car. I'm not near where it's stored now, but I would fret that the cord could be more likely to be pinched if closer to the windshield rather than the nose /front of the car. Hope that helps?
You bet! (And good eye, BTW.) It's a Black Widow Steel Sport Bike & Motorcycle Dolly - 1,250 lbs. Capacity, from www.discountramps.com/pit-viper-motorcycle-dolly/p/MC-DOLLY/ I'll add it in the notes, too. Thx!
I am fortunate to live in a warm country and ride all year round. However had to buy a battery conditioner as noticed the battery power/voltage was dropping. It was a nightmare to find a good ground connection point. Most metal chassis points don’t give a good electrical path and the conditioner shows an error light. Didn’t want to remove the tank to get to battery direct, that I know would resolve… Where did you connect the wires? Btw, I use a small portion of ACF-50 on the brake lines next to the expansion tank and calipers. That metal joint is corroding a bit on my 2022 R9T. Well done, your bike looks awesome!
Hi @manuelp6785, I envy your climate! 🙂 I'm sorry, but the good folks at Tytler's Cycle installed it, as it sounds like it was not a factory result (I wasn't sure about that as noted in the video), so I don't know the answer to your question. Perhaps a local BMW dealer, or others reading this, may have some suggestions? Maybe reach out to my dealer www.tytlerscycle.com/Contact-Us or try this discussion board www.ninetowners.com/. Hope it helps!
I would think so as I did not change any other parts of the exhaust system (i.e., flapper, catalytic converter, ECU) and while a bit more robust than the stock Akrapovics, they are not obnoxiously loud. But, to be sure, feel free to connect with them via Shawn Ryan, 1382 Duke Ave, Sutherlin OR 97479, 800.736.2114 or at www.competitionwerkes.com/products/bmw-r-ninet-slip-on-exhaust-2021-2022?_pos=1&_sid=942feabcc&_ss=r He's great and so is their company. (I receive no compensation from them, just a fan.)
Fair point @dismemberizer827 Mostly to prevent costly scrapes and to add a bit of red-to-the-head for cosmetic improvement. I'm not a fan of the more elaborate, albeit more protective crash bar options, so this is my compromise. And, of course, fingers crossed to never be needed! Ride safe brother.
Hi there! Great job and looks great. I have the Givi fairing and removed it after installation as didn’t like it. It is bigger than the Wunderlich I think. Must say yours looks more compact anos neat. Had to have mine painted as it comes in black only and my 719 option is the unusual white/pearl and gold. Well done!
Thanks @manuelp6785, I appreciate that. As noted, it took a lot of looking and sending back four other fairings before I found this one. I thought once i found one that I liked (and would fit), that I would get it painted matte black or maybe wrapped in matte black or matte carbon fiber-look, so it was a bonus to get one out-of-the-box like this. It was the most expensive of the 5 versions offered, but saved hours of time trying to find the right shop that could do something like this, especially where I now live. Best with yours, and feel free to share photos here if you like. I'd love to see them!
Thanks @garybarnes3975, it's so-much-better! I wear an old style open face helmet, and this makes it a much more comfortable ride at highway speeds. In fact, and not on purpose, on my way to church Sunday (honest!), there is a higher speed road I take, and all of a sudden I realized I was doing 80 MPH. Also, the buffeting that I used to get hit with when large trucks are going the opposite direction is drastically diminished as well.
Thanks @garybarnes3975, I appreciate your support. Have you done the test ride yet? PS: Just installed the front fairing and windscreen, that video will be out soon. Stay tuned...
@DrChrisStout no test ride yet i have been laid up with sciatica the last 3 weeks but on my to-do list as soon as I am back to normal. I will look out for the new video. All the best & safe riding!
Another very informative review Chris thank you. Those little titanium covers look really cool. I am hoping to pop down to my Bmw dealer within the next week and go for a spin. They are about 35 miles from where I live in London so straight off mine & on to the R9t should get a really good comparison. Thank you again. Enjoy that lovely motorcycle & ride safe!
Thanks @garybarnes3975, I really appreciate your support and interest. Keep us posted on your experience. I understand it's been revised in a number of ways and a minor re-brand to R12(?) nineT. Ride safe.
Thank you for sharing this beautifully machine. I have the r1250r which is a great motorbike but contemplating losing a little torque & buying an R9T. Thank you again!
Thanks @garybearnes3975, I very much appreciate you taking the time to say that. PS: You may find this of interest as well: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-htZJt6aHWzg.html and PPS, I think you'd enjoy an R9T, but, admittedly, I'm a bit biased. 🙂
My R9T is also a 2022 model. I had two services done. Here in Europe BMW services are considered expensive, but what you paid for the first oil change is perhaps beyond what we would consider acceptable here. Here is around 250 euro. Anyway I suppose different markets have different price strategies. Mine is stock apart from the Motorrad panniers, and I think you have a great selection of extras put on. Agree with the negatives and there are more, but this is a bike to have unconditional love with… you love the good and the bad. After many bikes, came to realize that this BMW hits it all for me at the stage I am at. Well done and thanks for sharing!
Thanks @manuelp6785, that's interesting to know. I appreciate your comments as to the bike tweaks as well. Maybe a few more to come, we'll see. Enjoy your bike, they are a pleasure.
You are correct there should not, and in the final walk around, they were properly fitted and tightened. Here's that vid: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ELVAxomhlVk.html look at ~14:10 minute mark for a close up of them on final installation. Hope that helps. Thanks!
@@Nazim.D It's been a while and my bike's getting serviced so I can't double check right now., but if memory serves and if I understand your question, I *think* I did not use the brass washer at all and installed the mirror directly to the threaded steel bolt (if you know what I mean) that came with it. If this is unclear, maybe reach out to RevZilla or the manufacturer? They may be able to better talk you through what you are dealing with than I can. Best with it!
Hello there, thank you for the video. I have a 22 and it is my understanding that you cannot do a flap delete on 21+ bikes. It requires a full header system removing both cat and flap valve. Im contemplating it myself. Any info you have would be great. thanks
You are correct, see my video on that, starting here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ELVAxomhlVk.html Hope that helps. Enjoy your bike.
I don't think you will be disappointed! I have really enjoyed it so far. As for my last Duc, it was auctioned. As for all my projects, you may enjoy: www.alifeinfull.org/stoutengineering.html Best with it!
