I just recently discovered his videos and was immediately fascinated by his adventures... then I learned he had passed. I can see why everyone liked him! I'll continue to watch his videos as long as they stay on RU-vid. He seemed like a genuine guy... someone I would have like to have met. RIP Shoestring!
Thanks for sharing!! I've been looking for info. I stopped for a while. It was so sad. Saw video of a nice memorial in iowa with a donated headstone .i thought for a minute he was buried there. So he was cremated? Train urn sounds nice. I had found an older video of his where he had hoped to buy land in Tennessee and have his deceased son's remains moved from Alaska to a plot in Tennessee and he wanted to be buried next to him. His son was only 4 when he passed. In the video mark said he didn't like that a runway was built so close to the edge of the cemetary where his son's headstone sits. I'm sad he didn't get to make that happen but they are together now in some way so that's a blessing.
His estate is covered under many agencies. He spawned a rival of interest in America’s railroads & a flurry of Amtrak travel, foregoing airlines, us included. Wouldn’t have had the courage without him. Ride on, Shoestring Mark, and God bless
Sir, you can get in touch with Amazon customer service and they can address the issue outside of the seller. On the order there should be a that says "Get Help" or "Problem With Order". Try these 2 options
@@robstrains441To be honest, I don't think we'll know anytime soon. The local TV station has not reported on anything regarding Shoestring since the initial news reports of his passing. The family might have chosen not to make that information public.
Thanks for the information, not sure if we can travel that far ,maybe someone will film it for utube viewing, thinking about d day my dad would searved wwii he would be 98 today ,don’t think he would fly to Normandy , but who knows
I just read the itenary for the week in Britt Iowa ,takes place August ,they did mention a memorial service for the hobos buried their, but does not show where they are honering shoestring, I hope they mention him.
@@robstrains441 I do not use Meta/FB, so I do not know if the family has posted any updates or plans for a Memorial, other than what has been announced already. Everyone's been honoring Shoestring in their own way and savoring the video archive he left us. Kind of distressing how many negative comments have been left in the comments sections of his videos, and the misinformation strewn about. But that's the nature of Social Media as we all know.
We had a Chevrolet Colorado @ little mini car like a trax spark my wife says ,we had a Nisson kicks at advance and a focas @carquest I never delivered for oreiley although I did work for them too.
i know he drowned but why ? what were the circumstances. there is no information at all since they found his body. was there any fowl play ? where is his final resting place ?
I wish I knew too I think his case is still open for investigation his sister says may be a year to settle things,I don’t think he could swim,if you go back to one of his vidios he went off dock for a swim hut had to almost walk back along side the platform,he said then he thought he was going to drown.
This is his urn as I understand it was donated by the funeral home in Johnson city tn,his sister posted this along with the results from his go fund me accounts ,which says they are just short of 25k their goal.
If he is in fact a Veteran then the family needs to contact the VA. I’m unsure how that works for someone who has passed, but if he was rated at some point at 30% or above then he should qualify for most if not all benefits. I sincerely hope his family has this knowledge.
In an early blog, Shoestring said that he was discharged after 57 days because he didn't disclose that he suffered from childhood seizures. In that case he may have received an Entry Level Separation from the Army. However, in later posts he said he was assigned an MOS and worked at Fort Rucker. It seems there's a discrepancy somewhere... 😐
Thank you for your service and concern we all miss him seeing him around the tube he loved what he did we can see it real deal it looks like a lonely way of life not him he ate that up always catching out or being at new locations well so long for now keep smiling 😊😁
Thank you ,hobos contribution came from his heart, yes he was an asset to utube, they made a lot of money off him,but he took his viewers on trips we never would have made.
@@robstrains441 I have seen many inconsistencies posted by others regarding his Military service; Shoestring himself mentioned knowing fellow soldiers at Camp Rucker GA, at one time the Army's Helicopter training facility. He had his Colon Surgery at Vanderbilt Medical Center. I also read he was Medically Discharged from Basic Training after fifty some odd Days because of 'seizures'... So I cannot say for certain whether Shoestring was a 'Veteran' or not. In any case, I honor his memory and all of the adventures he allowed us to join him on.
