Utterly useless. By the time it picks, releases and comes back, it already has missed quite a few recyclable items. So this is INCREASING landfill not decreasing it. The only thing it does is replace those 35 objects/minute humans who actually most likely are using two hands instead of one.
8:59 How did that flashlight get in there? Also never really understood the purpose of single-stream collection, rather than collecting paper items separate from the rest. Just seems to be a huge effort to separate it all out again after collection, and quite a bit of the paper is likely contaminated and of lower value.
Separate collections of items DID result in a higher quality collections rate. Unfortunately, too many people think that what they have to do, to insure a better, non-contaminated, collection is too much effort for them. Somehow, trash is magically taken care of tor them.
