So, after the caustic and rinse, why the need to heat when compressing? To remove water? ?well that water could be evaporated off under deep vacuum for a day, then polyester impregnated, then pressed to a precision thickness having a designed surface texture. Who the hell wants to sand paper grind finish timber? The press plates need small vent holes drilled, and at home, pressure applied using a hydraulic truck bottle jack, or tapered wedges. Commercially the end product needs to be minimum 2.4 m long. Clear long straight grain. The raw timber has to be free of defects like knot holes, resin veins, bark inclusions etc. Knots won't compress in the processing. This limits the use of fast growing timbers like pine that are full of defects. I see this processed timber as useful, most useful as resin/mineral impregnated laminate sheet. As 3 ply it would have significant strength and ability to mold well. Shame about being thirsty stuff... needing sealant.

Loved your video! But you have to admit, those sqirrels are pretty darn entertaining! And cute too! I would have no problem feeding them, if they would stop digging holes in my beautiful lawn! They stopped messing with my birdfeeder, but i often find them in my chipmunk feeder that's attached to my window (via suction cups). All i have to do is tap on the window (or just look at them) and the squirrels run away! Chipmunks are more fun to feed! They entertain my cat, they don't mess up my lawn (one tiny hole, no big deal), and they don't poop all over my deck like birds do! I'm constantly cleaning bird poop near my bird feeder -- but the chipmunks leave very little mess (a few empty shells, and no poop). And the BEST part is, once the chipmunks get to know you, they will wait for you by the door, and eat right out of your hand! You can't beat that! So much fun!! ❤

The original used vent holes about every inch on the plates so water could evaporate faster

I got a plastic tub/bucket, the type that 1Kg feta comes in. Cut a rectangle piece out of the bottom of that, and drilled some holes in it. Works great! It's Polypropylene (PP), and heat resistant.

I watched the video and found the information useful as I am about to try and repair an APC UPS but could have done without all the bad language. I was watching it with my kids nearby. They kept saying why is he cussing so much. I had to put on headphones. other than that good video.

Except for your potty mouth this was so entertaining! Thank-You My thoughts were for you to put a 2-3 inch PVC sleave over the long pole. This can protect your wire and NOT let their feet get a grip.

This wood might have some specific uses but cost seems like the limiting factor. What is important to consider here is strength vs weight. What is the density? How much less does this dense wood weight as compared to aluminum? Then there is the factor of work-ability. How strong is it when glued together as compared to welded metal? Also might want to figure it's dielectric value to determine if it can be used as an insulator. Just from looking at the process I'm thinking that steel, aluminum and plastic will be much cheaper.

a piece of pvc placed over the shaft of the pole going from deck to feeder fashioned to act as a "roller" may have saved you all this trouble. squirrels can't balance or hang on to a roller for very long

So the relay ended up sticking on which mostlikly is what killed the charging circut. The smoke signal kinda tells you to much current went threw it. Though it could have been the inverse. The varistor could have went some how and fucked up the charging circut. Though highly unlickly

Careful, those metal edges are SHARP once the base comes coffee. Gave myself a good nick trying to troubleshoot my DBM-8. Mine started sounding like a weed whacker starting up (a whined up chugging noise). I cleared out the chute of all the compacted coffee powder, but unfortunately that didnt do the trick. I ended up just replacing it with the same model. To the trash it goes

Next time: 1) weigh the wood samples before and after the treatment. 2) make a cylinder with a piston to press against steel blocks that flank the wood samples. You can then have an air compressor provide constant pressure, even as the wood becomes thinner. 3) see if you can compress the samples between blocks that are curved (ie turn the flat wood into an arch).
