You are a genius. I spent over $60 on a brake pedal switch, light bulbs, and fuses trying to track this down. I laughed when I saw that broken plastic piece on your floor, because that's exactly what happened with mine! Thanks for sharing.
My dash lit up like a Christmas tree. Service advanced trac, check brake system, check emergency brake… all in the middle of a 1000m+ road trip. Just found the little bumper on my floor. Hope this fixes it!
It flipping works!!! I had the silicone spacer on my mat. Sure as hell my brake lights were on. I have a 2014 f350, one owner, me. This happened today 7-9-2024.
Took me a bit to see where you were referring too, but I found the little half a piece of plastic on my floorboard, couldn’t find a magnet, so I got a little plastic washer the size of the one that fell off, super glue and bam! Brakes lights went off, now, I have read the blue switch is a safety switch and could affect the performance of your vehicle. Mine bogged down like it lost power so I guess I’ll eventually have to replace the blue part, but it’s like $60 so we will let it ride for now. Excellent idea, Screw the stealership as they want $300 to fix it. .05 cent washer and $2 super glue and seems good to go. Thank you kind sir
Thank you!!! You just saved me a ton $$$. After viewing your video I went back to the truck and low and behold the gasket was on the floor board. Magnets are working!
Wish i saw earlier this would totally work. I ended up super gluing a dime to some felt then put some glue on the other side, rolled up a little tape on index finger, stuck the dime side on my finger, depressed pedal and got it in there kept it there for a bit for the glue to cure. Then slow wiggled my finger to get the tape off. We shall see how permanent it is. If it fails this will work lol
Wow - best tip for my truck so far - came home after work and my brake lights we on when I shut down the F250. Found your video, looked on the floorboard, sure enough - there was a plastic disc that fell out of place. Used a magnet. Viola!
That was totally the issue. Why in the world did the engineers design something this ridiculous, and a little plastic stopper would cause this much headache. Thanks again, Marlon.
Thanks bro you just saved me a big headache and I did use a magnet that I pried off the back of a flashlight until I can get down there and get the right ones but that did work have a great day and thank you for this video
My Brother, noticed this tonight on my F350 and Man bro your solution worked like a charm, I had a perfect magnet for this! Genius, thanks for saving me as well as all these folks!
Thank you very much for sharing this-this is incredibly helpful. Went and bought the magnets after I saw this video. Took me a few seconds to install works like a charm. Thank you for saving me time and money from the dealership
1000% thank you! I'd love to say you saved me some money but I bought two aftermarket and one OEM brake switch before realizng this was all it was. And of course the OEM one (most expensive) has a zero return policy. None-the-less, I appreciate the video man. Appreciate you for making it. Thank you.
Got the same problem but also Truck will not accelerate. Then service brake light warning nd advance track all come on. I hqve the magnets. Just need to install. Will update when complete.
Great info! Just happened to me yesterday, everything else I read said the switch was most likely bad. When going to look at the switch I found the rubber stopper laying on the floorboard, just the clip part of it had broken so I was able to super glue the rubber button back on.
All the rest of the comments say this already: you rock! I had no idea where to start, but sure enough, your video was top result. And the little piece of plastic was on the floor mat. Top marks, my friend.
Thank you man! I was wondering why my brake lights wouldn’t go off. Saw a piece of plastic on the floor and thought it was trash. RU-vidd this and found the magnet at Home Depot.
This video is a 10/10. Internet hall of fame. Thank you my man for saving who knows how much headache and money at the dealership. My 2015 F-250 had this exact problem. A magnet sacrificed from the kitchen fridge saved the day, and my batteries!
I just experienced this today. I found your video and fixed the truck in about five minutes. You sir, are the best! I truly appreciate you taking the time to do the video.
