Just three comments: - Japanese read left to right -- or top to bottom, starting on the right. - The "trash can" next to vending machines is usually a recycle bin for the cans and bottles. Usually NOT a trash can. - You're not supposed to eat while walking (with the exception of ice cream...) -- but there's no rule that you should drink your drink next to the vending machine. Stepping to the side when taking the bottle out from your backpack to take a sip should be fine.
Japan is a place truly driven by its culture. Everything unfolds from there. To go there without knowing or caring about the way of life just subtracts a great deal from the experience and makes things difficult for residents. Hopefully the predatory Instagram popularity will pass and the yen will get stronger again. Its not a casual place to visit out of apparent popularity and it isn't a fit for everyone. But as I said, if you are interested in the culture it is a deeply cool place to visit.
Japan is a VERY xenophobic nation. They HATE foreigners, tourists, and KOREANS especially! There's a reason it's called the hermit kingdom. They still worship monarchy and oppose modern political institutions. Bizarre world.
Hahaha. This is funny considering when in Canada, Japanese tourists are the rudest, most inconsiderate, tourists leaving their trash everywhere and public washrooms FILTHY after they use them. Here's a deal, you stay home and we will too.
japan generates huge vast quantities of plastic trash...plastic wrapping of tiny individual food bits and nicnacs of all kinds...all plastic right into the dumpster....everything about japan is either live fish cutting or dead plastic wrappers
