Can you make a novice class video for musically stunted ppl like me? When i play the same notes, it doesn't sound like music. It sounds like I'm playing random notes really fast. I have been struggling with that for almost 3 decades.
@@hotrod8915 Buddy it took me 37years to arrive at a point where this video is done. This is novice stuff. If you’re not learning anything from this you’re not listening. There are plenty of other teachers. Give this video another try and apply yourself then reach back out with results. Then we can talk.

42:07 this is why you should never use sounds to represent the 7 notes of a scale. We have a good way that existed for thousands of years. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7. If we go ONE to FOUR... simple, easy, no language barrier... Indians have their own sounds and both are just an impediment to discussing intervals, imo.
Great stuff Al. Love your phrasing and the min/maj7 lick sounds great. Just wondering why you say you could view the lick as being derived from the melodic minor scale and not the harmonic minor scale. As you are not playing any 6ths it could of course be either. But would you primarily draw licks from the dorian scale (instead of the aeolian scale) when extending? That would make me understand your statement better.
