Great question! We can train our nervous system to not be over reactive. One path is with our mind, thoughts and the other is with our body using muscle relaxation, breathing, meditation. Look through the episodes and listen to what sounds like the place you are at. Lots of tips and practices in the episodes!
Very intersting thank you for the encouragement to try this. Even though I knew about mindfulness and its benefits for stress reduction, I hadn't ever thought that the appeal of or drive to engage in multitasking could grow due to tolerance of stimulation. That could explain why I feel I am doing it more than ever. Just eating one meal this morning mindfully felt relaxing.
Hi ive had symptoms for e years now no test showing anything . My biggest worry is how my muscles feel and they have wasted away can this be from anxiety ?
Aloha James! Yay for having negative test results. Good to consider what thoughts are useful and what are worries not serving you now. I hope you'll keep listening and gathering your own tool box for calming your nervous system!
So do you think Dr. Sarno and Claire Weeks can help people whose nervous system is dysregulated due to tapering off prescribed benzodiazapine? The anxiety is all day long regardless of outside circumstances. It’s due to the withdrawal and too much glutamate and downloaded GABA receptors. Outside triggers simply make the anxiety feel like someone has a gun at my head!
I hear you! I have not seen any mention of specifics to tapering off any prescription in either Weekes' or Sarno's work. I do know that keeping your NS as calm as possible will keep you from adding more stress to your your already dysregulated system. Check out "Mad In America" and for wonderful resources on tapering and psychopharmacology. And Dr Peter Breggin's book: "sychiatric Drug Withdrawal: A Guide for Prescribers, Therapists, Patients and their Families." 🙏🏻
Set yourself up to do it safely, call a nurse. Get info from a reliable sources like Mayo clinic. What do you need? Now,,Just get settled in and detox. It’s awful and scary.
I had forgotten what real energy felt like, yeah, it’s been over 2 years and I don’t crave the stuff anymore, surprisingly I didn’t suffer withdrawal and that was key, not even within the first days after go’ogling Steffon Barkload’s Quit Drinking Forever and quitting because I wanted to with no pressure or anything.
What if the trigger is something physical like chronic pain so the trigger is always there causing anxiety. Is Claire Weekes method the best approach to desensitize from the chronic pain?
Dr John Sarno was a back surgeon who did a lot of wonderful work with people with chronic pain without surgery, around repressed emotions and TMS! I have a few old episodes about his work: 266: The Mindbody Syndrome With Steve Ozanich (speaks of dr sarno's work) 411: Releasing repressed Emotions for TMS and Anxiety I hope that's helpful!

So do we just go about our day as best we can full of anxiety? My issue is the fear of the anxiety, mainly its physical sensations. I know we must not fear it and not add that 2nd fear.
Yes, go about your day as long as you are also taking good care of yourself along the way. Getting rest and nutrition and hydrated and taking time to let your nervous system feel safe. Finding ways to feel safe and relaxed.
Socially anxious actually do prepare a lot. That is how anxiety works and operate - with preparation and being preoccupied with preparation. With time this spirals down in to OCD with routines that must be fulfilled before social event.
Hi Gina, Your latest episode on how dietary changes can ease anxiety is fantastic. If you're looking to expand your audience and enhance engagement, I'd be delighted to assist with RU-vid SEO strategies tailored to boost your channel's reach. Best Regards, Rezaul Bari
You must be a fly on the wall of ACP headquarters☺. The podcast has been going for over nine years and was podcast -as they all were back then, audio-only. I have been working on doing a few extras for RU-vid, like possible lives and some, as you called them, "talk head videos." 👍🏻 Stay tuned-glad you are here!
@@anxietycoachespodcast Yeah that's true and I have started listening to podcasts just 2-3 years ago, so I only watched video podcasts😂 I think you should try it.
Aloha! You will find we have to ride out any stress hormones (that cause us to get to panic states) versus get rid of them. You can keep yourself from adding more fuel to the panic fire and come through it more easily by letting yourself breath in a deeper and slower way. Please keep listening we have so much help for you in the episodes!

I see the cold shower rinse as making a difference over time! In other words, it's not a quick fix. Get to where you can have full-on cold water for 1- 3 minutes, this alone may take quite a while :). A little bit at a time, you are letting your mind know you can handle the discomfort without having to be fearful.
My anxiety symptoms are vertigo, dizziness, and derealization. So it's so hard to feel those. And it's so uncomfortable when teaching second grade and feel this way.
I understand the challenge you have with those symptoms! Don't give up on your practices to calm your nervous system it take the body time to heal and to no longer jump into fight or flight. Keep going! So glad you are here 🌺
