Absolutely loved learning about generational curses. I agree with what you are saying that having to be delivered from curses of our ancestors actually contradicts God's Word that all things have passed and all things are new because we are a new Creation. We may buy into the lie that because so and so was this way, that must be who I am. These lies we accept become fuel for the demons to inflict their desires to immobilize us as children of God. I don't think that deliverance ministers knowingly want to harm us. But this is a very important discussion to have for sure. God bless you 🙏🏼

I wish science would do proper study of epigenetics. If i'm understanding it right,they explain generational 'sins' perfectly! For those unfamiliar,we have a separate 'layer' over our genes which can switch each gene on or off. Long story short,it looks very much like our life choices can change what our descendants inherit! And perhaps it takes several generations of changes to affect large changes? That's what i'm guessing Deuteronomy 5:9 is describing. BTW if anyone wondering why God would allow such issues can be passed on to the following innocent generation,don't forget God who made sin hereditary in the first place.That's a whole other topic.Quick answer- It's part of his plan.

I disagree with Dr. Heiser on this one. If we inherit sin from Adam, why is it such a stretch to inherit generational sin from our fallen ancestors?
@yuoiyuoi899
@yuoiyuoi899 6 дней назад
Various studies clearly demonstrate a genetic component to various disorders which is SIGNIFICANT. The alcohol example given by Heiser lacks credibility. About 50% of Alcoholism has a genetic predisposition. This means that an alcohol disorder will show if one's family has a history of alcohol misuse. This is a generation to generation problem (biology trumps culture) which will NOT affect those who do not have that disposition. How many generations that can be tracked is still a matter of research.

@@yuoiyuoi899 , I am a biblical counselor. There is no known gene for addiction. Addiction is not biological or hereditary (gene-wise). Addiction is sin, not a biological condition such as diabetes.

We as well don't inherit sin but a sinful nature. We inherit generational CURSES. Thing is there comes a point in time that current generations get to suffer for the past sins of their fathers in one way or another. This is why we ought to be very careful as parents what we do, the decisions we make. But us well there's a choice for everyone to decide if something shall continue with you or it shall stop from you henceforth. This is where the work of Jesus Christ comes in, the Bible clearly tells us that He became a curse for us so that we might become a blessing. In conjuction with this Paul as well says "we were once enemies with God through our thought" so in certain many cases the way one thinks has to be reset/renewed in light of what has happened to that person. Love is the remedy to all of the stuff. Any traumatic experience, victimization of any kind or being taken advantage of by one who claimed to represent Christ can be summed up into this phrase "being unloved." If you truly want to break a pattern, a curse is by understanding that God loves you irregardless of what has or not happened to you.

Maybe it’s not the sin we carry over, but the consequences of the sins that are carried over? If mom or dad committed any kind of sins that will carry over to their children’s lives.

Hello thank you for this. I have a question. What about the apostles going out preaching the gospel and expelling demons? And that these signs will accompany those tho believe? Isn’t expelling demons part of it too?
@tlawhon
@tlawhon 8 дней назад
My personal view is that it is not either or, but both and, depending on the particular case. I agree that the behavior of parents has a significant effect on the children, but if we take into account the spiritual context of biblical teachings, including the casting out of "unclean spirits", then we must make room for the involvement of those same spirits in our lives. To deny either one is potentially to close the door on possible effective responses.

Hi, I grew up around this teaching too and while it is true - we don't know what that actually looks like do we? I think preaching the gospel and planting that seed in hearts - when God brings the increase from that - it IS casting out demons to a certain extent. If the person who hears the word and acts on it then stops backbiting, acting out of anger, or doing things that are bad for them and others... is that not changing who they serve and thus casting out what DID take their energies and talents? I just don't think it always has to be "showy". To me that seems to serve the person doing the preaching more than God or the person being delivered and that does not strike me as "good fruit", or harmonize with a LOT of scripture. Just IMO - but I have been thinking on these things for many, many years. :)

This may shed light on the question as to whether a born again believer can be truly indwelled/possessed by an unclean spirit. If it is the strong influence of an 'intelligent evil', given access to a mind corrupted at an early age, and having at that early age, or weakened stage, built up a web of lies and deceits that claim Jesus has turned their back on the person, the entity could remain in a type of peripheral control even after salvation. The words of Jesus, when he cautions delivering someone from a demon, and leaving the space swept clean comes to mind. The church has lost discipleship as it's calling after spreading the gospel.. Making sure the brethren are grounded in the word from the beginning. The first church knew they had pagans, without any knowledge of God, coming to Jesus. They knew they had to start at square one. Nowadays it's assumed everyone will catch up in time. Maybe we should start to assume as the first church did... I know it's not simple as I've said. Just a thought out loud.

Yeah don't let weirdos touch you. Get rid of 1 devil and he will bring back 7 friends worse than himself and those narcissists in that so-called deliverance movement are happy to pass those 7 new devils on to you by the laying on of hands. They actually think its funny they make us worse.
