My name is Flip and this is my channel all about the projects I do all over my house. I do everything from fixing up the interior of my house to putting new shingles on my shed, but I especially love working outside on my lawn mower and in my yard. My hope with this channel is that I can help people accomplish projects on their own by explaining how to do things in a way that is simple and straightforward. My goal is that I help people become more self-sufficient and help them save money.
I owned the older ego mowers in the past. However I wanted more torque. I now have a Milwaukee M18 mower. This mower was the most powerful battery mower with 10 ft pounds of torque. My Milwaukee mower has never stalled even in tall wet grass. The ego has 11 ft pounds of torque which is slightly higher than the Milwaukee. I’m sure both mowers are great , shower for $100 more for the ego we are just splitting hairs. I welcome your thoughts
And you can't drive a zero turn with one hand while holding a drink in the other. They are faster but I prefer a regular mower. For our huge yard I use a 6 ft finish mower behind my small tractor. It has arm rest and a canopy and the dust and debri is behind you instead of beside you
Not sure what is this "aluminum" you're talking about?? Such a metal does not exist..... oh you must mean ALUMINIUM !!!!!!!!!!!!!! In 1812 British scientist Thomas Young named the element ALUMINIUM. Later in 1828, Noah Webster decided he knew better than all the other world scientists and changed the spelling to aluminum for a book, despite him being merely an editor for the American Dictionary of the English - not even a scientist... WOW
thank you for sharing your knowledge. You either had some HVAC training or you learned it another way, but your decision to share this information and skillset are much appriciated.
You don't need to touch the bead of silicone once it's applied. I see people make this mistake all the time, you don't need to 'smooth' it unless it's particularly uneven.
I was about to ask you to do this video on your last one and you already have it, I do have a Briggs and Stratton cub cadet xt1, do you think it should be the same? Thanks
That's a great question. I'm pretty sure they are different. And I THINK these are the right ones for the Briggs engine model, but do a little research: amzn.to/3ZEeYRA
Ok thanks, yes I’ll do more research about it, I wish they would sell a maintenance kit like the one you have in this video but for B & S, to make it easier, but they don’t
Thank you so much for this video. It's friday evening, the sun is setting, my vehicle won't start, and while I know this tool coupled with my battery charger have been a great cure in similar situations, it has been years since I used this meter. I appreciate your clear, consice lessons with high quality audio and visual video. Best wishes to you and yours!!!
You can tow with a zero turn. If you want to tow heavy loads, you should be using a garden tractor rather than a lawnmower. A gas powered zero turn can tow over 1000 pounds. You can plow snow with a zero turn as well. No they don't plow heavy snow. You can get aftermarket front mount blades that will clear snow that is a couple inches deep. Basically they can move snow that's too much for a shovel but not really enough for a snow blower. Depending on the hill, no equipment will do well on it. Most of the hill struggles are the NOF in the seat. I've repeatedly mowed the same steep inclines. Steep incline meaning the mower is cocked at a 45 while in mowing. It's the only way I can mow my ditch and it takes 2 passes. Exmark Lazer-Z, Deere Home Depot special, Ryobi 48e.
Yeah you can tow with them somewhat. I just said that's not their "intended" use. They are built for agility and speed. But they will do it. Just a little less weight than tractors and not as stable.
@fixitFlip If it's residential, flat ground towing, you shouldn't be worried about stability. Any lawnmower, towing is not their intended use. They are meant to mow lawns, hence the name lawnmower. If your focus is a tow rig that can mow, buy a subcompact tractor. If your focus is a mower than can tow a cart or trailer, a zero turn will work in the vast majority of cases. Again, zero turns can tow 1000 lbs. A simple 2 wheel cart or 4 wheel cart will max at that. If you have hills, you should be looking at tractors for that, not mowers. I've lowered my dump trailer onto the wheel spindle cap and moved it around the barn. It's a 3500 lbs trailer empty.
Excellent review thank you. They, (battery mowers) are getting better. My extensive research indicated deficiencies and this proves it. Bought a 190cc quad swing back blade, alloy 19" deck, self propelled, power mulcher. 1 & 1/4hrs to cut huge corner block, single pass, mix of thick Kikuyu and thin buffallo grass, 2nd lowest height setting, no bagging, no clumps, no stragglies. Billiard table finish. I really did want a battery mower. 8-/
I have the same mower, I disconnected the reverse shut off safety switch under the frame near the left rear tire so I can mow in reverse. I also disconnected the switch under the seat to be able to hop off while the blades are still spinning and it stay running. I know it is not safe but I’m careful😂
I was disgusted when we got the mower back from another visit to the shop and one of the tasks I asked them to do was to level the deck. What was written on the work order was "check deck level" and on the receipt after it was done, was "deck good." NOT taking it back to that shop. We mowed ONCE and it was clearly not leveled at all. Thank you for putting this up.
Wrong. I tow trailers off my yard a lot to a road. It is easier to hook trailers to a normal towing vehicle on a road because you can roll or pull the towing vehicle back by hand. Besides, a mower makes shallower wheel tracks in your yard.
In your video you stated that you can't tow trailers with a zero turn mower. That is what's wrong. My first reply stated that I pull trailers with my zero turn mower. All of my zero turns mowers have trailer balls on them. Perhaps those stupid stand on zero turns are harder to mount a ball on but I wouldn't own one of them because your feet are tied up just supporting your body. Your feet can do two separate operations if they are free. (Raise the deck, raise the chute with a proper mechanism installed)
@@bottmar1 Oh, gotcha. Yeah you can tow with them somewhat. I just said that's not their "intended" use. They are built for agility and speed. But they will do it. Just a little less weight than tractors and not as stable.
Means you're not turning right. I've had a zero turn for 16 years. I have 3 right now. I got away from that early. Stop pivoting on one wheel when you turn. 1 turning forward and 1 turning backwards. Instead of a forward turn, do a backwards turn.
Perfect, thank you. I've owned mine for almost 9 years and have never had to replace the front turn signals and running lights. I still don't, I'm just replacing them with much brighter LEDs.
Thanks! I am constantly working on my mower deck, and changing a spindle is time consuming and difficult. For the first time I was able to change the spindle with minimal effort, thanks to your ramp video. I made the ramp, and now changing a blade or spindle is EASY!
Thank you so much for the video! My cub cadet stopped working some weeks ago, and I was afraid to check it myself (I'm a woman with zero mechanical knowledge). But your video give me the confidence to try, and I'm so happy I did it. I think in under 30-minutes I removed the deck, and finally could see the transmission drive belt. I will try next to change that belt, and hopefully correct the problem! Thank you!!
Thanks, I wish I watched this before I replaced my dad's faucet, he was complaining that it was stiff to turn and I thought that he needed a new one. I just took apart and lubed the old one and now it turns nice and freely and is ready to use as a spare.
Oh yeah, you can buy a deck right off Cub Cadet's website. But let me tell you they are not cheap. If you can weld, might be better off patching. Is this my cousin Bryan?
Thinking that zero-turns aren't good on hills kept me from getting one for a long time. Then I got one...and let me tell you, I mow some wild slopes, and it's not an issue at all. Maybe with the lightest, cheapest jankiest mowers it would be, but a decent ZTR will hold even across a quite steep hill.
