I had my g9ii overheat today whilst it was 30/31 degrees Celsius outside and maybe 27/28 inside (we don't have AC as standard in the UK). What's worse is that it wasn't even recording, it was just running HDMI out to my PC. It was set to 5.7k 30p (not open gate) but shut off after about an hour and a half whereas I've had my gh5 run in similar conditions for 12+ hours, granted that's only at 4k. I've lowered the resolution now and we'll see how it does
love the video! Wondered if you'd be able to share how to you transferred the files onto you Mac computer? Using P2 cards or cable directly onto camera? Thanks!
Hello sir, so my current set up is Rodecaster + Atem + OBS (the reason I'm using OBS is to insert Slides and or video clips that will relate to the podcast as its being recorded. Questions: 1. I have my Rodecaster & Atem pluged into my mac and then my sources into OBS, how do I then connect and or use MixEffect into the mix? Q#2: Can Mix Effect recognize the Audio inputs coming in from the Rodecaster Pro? if so how. not sure if you have any YT links you can recommend that would show me how to best utilize all these tools together. thanks

I can't thank you enough for making this video. It was quite a journey getting my Rodecaster pro to work with the atem mini pro iso and mix effect app. We just recorded our first episode using this set up and it worked perfectly!!! I am so grateful. Thank you! This changed my life lol. Pro grade episodes without needing more people to make it happen. One file spit out ready to go.

Kondor Blue stuff is rad. For myself, I run my cable out of that right-most cable port and under the camera to the left-hand side. This gives some extra length so I'm not connected to that side and protected from yanking it out. I've thought about getting a longer cable to wrap it twice even.
Im not an apple software and hardware user and i have black magic Design hardware and software on PC so BRAW is more flexible for my workflow and let me use the full dynamic range of my camera, if i need to export on other software there the ACES open color and open EXR option also i can do some kind of DCP package or H265 and H264 export in MKV or MP4 for reading proxy .
Anyone know how to recover files from a Seagate 1tb back up drive? It was originally formatted with 2011 MacBook Air using ext journal ( might be encrypted), & there was a Time Machine back up on it. I bought a 2014/15 MacBook Pro but never used the backup. Then I upgraded to a 2021 MacBook Pro m1, & plugged in the drive, & it’s not reading the hard drive in disk utility. I plugged it in the 2015 Mac it shows I’m using 980gb but I can’t read anything…. Any reasons why or how this can be solved?
The a7siii was so good that they swapped what ever they were going to do with their cinema line and just put the a7siii sensors in them...fx3, fx6 and also zev1. The fx9ii will also be a variation of the a7siii sensor as well, just being announced. This sensor near ties the venice in dr when shooting in xavc. It doesn't have the same latitude because some of it comes from nr but out of the box that is the fact. We will see what the r5ii can do in the real world but no mirroless cams, besides the s1h have tested with the same dr...even the pockets. Bmccc full frame didn't test any higher in dr than the 6k pockets. One caviet though is that when shooting prores raw, you lose a stop of dr and end up with the level of dr you would have with the bmcc full frame. Noise reduction is lost. BRAW still has NR though. Drop that and the a7siii still wins in dr.
lol I so relate to finding things that I would like different, improved or added. It’s not being critical for sake of being critical. It’s just being realistic about would be useful changes or benefits. 😊 I’m always looking for ways to improve whatever it is I did. It’s enjoyable to look at finding was to improve.
@@_tographer Sorry so the GH7 has 1 track that you can separate in post into a left and a right track, but when you drop it into a timeline it is only 1 track instead of 4. Now and only when you plug the XLR 2 unit into the device will there be 4 tracks of audio

Guys, seriously tell me how you focused manually on luminous cameras! You said that contrast focusing is needed to achieve focus, but then how do you work?
While I can appreciate your frustration with the G9 mk II lacking active cooling, for me and the 5 other people who want a Lumix for stills, I'll take 5% better weather resistance over video performance every time. Lumix makes a huge range of video focused cameras and, essentially, one stills focused body. Please, let us have this one. Also, I've looked at the S5ii because the price/value just seems SO good, but as someone who shoots mostly wildlife, my lens would need to be SO much bigger and heavier, and still have less effective reach. That said, while L-mount may not yet have the breadth of the E-mount system, I love the fact that the budget friendly 1.8 Lumix primes are weather resistant.

Hard to say exactly, we don’t use a soundboard because the Atem needs separate audio channels to know who is speaking. But I’m sure there is a way to do it, you just might need to feed redundant lines to the Atem.
Kind of…the mics are going to a camera (L/R) and that camera sends audio over HDMI to the Atem. In the Atem software you can grab those L/R audio tracks and base your settings off of those. If you use a board and send a mix down, the Atem will only have 1 track of audio and it won’t be able to differentiate speakers. I have another video on the channel that details this setup with more specifics.
... a full-frame camera with similar features as the GH7 will most likely cost North of $4k! SMH... the others still do not have all the features as the GH7, especially in relation to price-point.
The Sigma 28-70mm is a FANTASTIC lens! I just got a LUMIX S5 original and the 28-70 a couple months ago and it’s been beauty! Such a light weight FULL-FRAME setup and really good in low light with that f2.8. It’s like a full frame sigma 18-35. Just SO MUCH LIGHTER! Not to mention how affordable it is compared to other lenses in the L-mount. Apparently the sigma 28-70 has the same optical performance as the sigma 24-70 just in a lighter plastic build quality. Still really good quality though. Also, I heard the LUMIX S5 II has a digital look to the footage compared to the LUMIX S5 OG. I believe this digital image affects the standard profiles not V-LOG. Maybe something to check into.
Hi guys, Great show. About Cinematch and matching with color cards,leeming lut etc... Shooting ETTR leeming lut pipeline was ok and fast before I purchased Cinematch. Doing multicam concerts production with P6K,P4K GH5,5s,S5org and S5iiX plus DJI action 4 RAW + Cinematch in a HDR recomended pipeline by cinematch (which use plugin intern CST colorspace transform + sensor match in Davinc Wide Gammut and Intermediate ) I usualy convert since one year everything to Arri Clog 3 in a HDR pipeline. U get the best results like that...and I am using at the end Arri LUTS pipeline when all the footage is in Clog 3 colorspace or Filmconvert. Cinematch is by far most precise tool even if with the IR pollution of my BM cameras I need to work more on them to match my Panasonic. CUBE file from Cinematch is a great tool I have a converstion LUT for all my cam I did myself so each cam to Arri Clog 3 and a rec 709 vonverstion lut is backed and I export the LUT from resolve to each of my cameras and it looks similar in camera. But I have as well no use in the real time lut feature of S5iiX because I love the flexibility Of Vlog proper and it has no place in my workflow So Cinemarch is a must plugin for resolve imho It is the most time efficient. Filmconvert is great as well for film emulation. About gear Saw a used GH6 for 800 CHF +- same in dollar here in switzerland no one want to buy them it stayed one month online...I almost bought it but I saw no purpose and no need for me personaly but grrat price I think nowdays that GH5 price are like 400-500 CHF max 800 for GH6 seems for me appropriate price for GH6 used. You have still a core user base of MFT but in the same time so much old gear on sale online it makes me think that the system has a programated dead line and we will not see past GH7...if the GH7 sales are not what they expect from them... GH7 could be an option for me if the price was 1600-1800 ich max My last bought mft was used P4K 3 years ago P4K IQ is the best in MFT mount imho...maybe GH7 is better in proresraw...probably Like your duo 😊
$1,500??? The GH6's still around are listed for more. I'm sure they'll have similar deals in the next 6-12 months as they always do, but that sounds way low for this camera.
Full frame bodies like the Sony ZV-E1 $2200, Nikon Z6 III $2500, Lumix S5 II $1700 offer up most of the great features people want these days. Plus more full frame cameras like the R5 II and R6 III from Canon are soon on the way. For MFT to stay competitive it needs to lower prices and/or offer more features. Asking $2200 for a Lumix GH7 + $500 for 32bit float + $200 for Arri Log ($2900 total + tax) is a hard sell in today's market. Used GH6's can be found for $1200-$1300, maybe even cheaper if you find one local.
@@_tographer ... Sony ZV-E1 overheats like crazy! It's a camera that is not that great of a hybrid camera, IMHO. Nikon Z6III is bringing something to the table, but it does not have active cooling and I'm not so sure about audio support via hotshoe or time code syncing. According to some, the DR performance on this camera is not positive, especially that it's a full-frame camera. It's going to be interesting to see more real-world reviews. Just like Sony, Canon's codec selection is a joke! IMO, they're both protecting their "cine" cameras. An R5-series camera costs what? The reason I didn't pull the trigger on the Lumix S5II/S5IIX was the rolling shutter performance and up to 4k/60(with a crop)... it was close, though.
As a stills shooter, if I wasn't into wildlife photography, I don't think I'd be using micro 4/3. As you say, the price advantage isn't really there at the moment, and the size/weight advantage isn't as great as it once was, either. Oh, also, Re: hiding microphones - I don't recall the details but I recall seeing something recently where, among younger creators/viewers, having an obvious mic is now a 'thing'. I wish I could remember the reason they gave. More edits! The 10-25 is one of the sharpest lenses I've ever seen. I'd go so far as to say if you're only using it for video, you're not even close to it's full potential. The Leica 25/1.4 mk II is crazy sharp, and the 10-25 at 25 is slightly sharper to my eye.
I have the g9ii and have used it in 90+ degrees to film lacrosse. I had no overheating issues. Now I will admit, when I wasn’t filming I kept it out of direct sunlight. And…I wasn’t filming for an hour non-stop. Still I went into the situation realizing that it is not my S5ii. Incidentally, I decided to purchase it for the smaller MFT lenses. AND I’M WITH YOU. Panasonic didn’t lie at all, but I did purchase it thinking it could do what my s5ii could do. Still, I love it, I love lumix, and I will be purchasing the GH7.
so the question would be .. being used in my studio and outdoors ... with an ext monitor... I record YT videos with my teleprompter ... in a scene by scene approach ... over maybe 10 -15 mins runs ... the question would be ... do you think it would overheat in these scenarios ... ext SSD record .... in New Zealand ... mostly its 22-25c in the house ... maybe 30c outside in summer in the extreme .... I don't record in Prores ... I don't to 4K 120 ... prob mostly short recordinging altthough my A7III has recrded the odd presentation .... GH7 or G9II >??
No remorse, got the G9II for $1500. By contrast the GH7 is $2200 + $500 for 32bit float + $200 for Arri Log ($2900 total plus tax) - For indoor use, the G9II gets the job done, and if I need to use it outside, I'm just a bit more cautious, plus that $30 Ulanzi fan does help if the heat gets more extreme.
@@_tographer dude nice! I ended up canceling my gh7 preorder and got a used g9ii. Mostly for cost savings but mainly because my main cameras are the s1h/bs1h/eva1. The gh7 would be perfect if it was my a cam but kinda not wise to use it as a c cam. Also the xlr2 would force me to use the gh7 as a main camera so yeah. I settled on a g9ii instead. No regrets
I have two GH5’s, and one GH5 Mk2. These have never over heated and they have run up to 5 hours continuously at 4K 30fps both to Ninja’s and internally as H264, albeit indoors. I don’t expect the G9 II to overheat in the same conditions. I also have a GH6 which records 4K to my Ninja and 5.7K 30fps ProRes internally, of course there is no danger of over heating because of the fan but I have never even heard the fan turn on.
Even though I have a micro 4/3s cameras and lenses, I also have an S5 and have a few lenses for it. I just ordered an S5ii, mainly for the autofocus so I can create RU-vid videos and not worry about the focus hunting, or breathing. Since I already have the glass, spending $1,200 for the body was not a bridge too far. I considered the G9ii and the GH7 also, but the full frame won out.
Helpful video, have been struggling with picking a first video camera due to concerns of choosing the "wrong" ecosystem. Unrelated note, but your beard and face structure is giving strong Liam Neeson Qui-gon Jinn vibes
