We have a few unique growing situations, where we try to grow as much food for ourselves with the space we have. We grow food on a cement patio with above ground raised beds, we grow food in our alleyway spaces, we grow food in water wicking containers, we have even grown food on our carport rooftop! Having the knowledge and ability to garden and grow your own food is a fun and rewarding pastime that not only gives you delicious nutritious food to eat, but also gives you a healthy peace of mind. There are two types of raspberries, primocane produce berries on the first year. Floricane produce on the second year canes. I’m going to plant Anne yellow which makes a yellow raspberry and you cut down the whole patch each spring, and it regrows. The biennial raspberries I have pots have only produced a handful of raspberries each year.
Idk but some say it takes 4 years for garlic to fully mature into big large cloves. I saw some first year garlic cloves and they were small, like green onions. If that’s wrong let me know. Great show bro! Edit note: again idk, I’ve only tried to grow garlic once and it failed lol, I looked it up and google says small cloves never had a chilling period needed for cloves to divide, but typically garlic takes 9 months and rich organic matter help make large cloves.
I just plant the largest cloves, get them in a few weeks before first frost and then just let them do their thing until late Spring when it heats up and then I water them until about 1-2 weeks before harvesting. They do need some good chill days in the winter as you say to help them divide.
I had some black widows under a tarp I put down to kill the grass. It literally crawled on my gloved hand and didn't bite. I almost peed my pants! But at least now I'm aware that they're there! Not all spiders are bad but those I don't want on my property bc I have kids that visit and love to be barefoot!

I'm curious if you know how much water the space between the buckets will hold. And in regards to an overflow hole so you don't drown the roots.... Do you drill yours in the bottom bucket just below the bottom of the top bucket, or are you drilling into the top bucket so you can hold more water?
A suggestion Enoch would be using a watering wand , allowing you to water lower and more control directly underneath the plant. Going to Sub to Jason NOW. I don't have a balcony, but a different small space garden so I hope to learn some things. I hope he comes back to talk again with some of his personal perspectives on life, the universe and everything. What a great guest and story. Going from being trapped in his apartment and unemployed during covid to becoming a gardening advocate that is making a difference and oh, just happened to meet the Queen! Seems like a super down to earth person that cares a lot. Great interview as always.
First off Eli, great job holding the fort despite suddenly being guestless. I think you would have been fine if nobody had stepped up, BUT firstly Thank you Jay! You are always super helpful in the chats, but you are a great presenter. I don't care what you say; you have great presence on screen. You are engaging and a great story teller! Josh and Jason are 2 of your most interesting guests. absolutely loved this show!! And of course, I love Sarah's segment, so proud of that girl of mine!! We are both so busy harvesting daily, canning, freezing, and dehydrating. I had enuf green beans to wash, snap, blanch and freezer bag to keep my hands busy thru your entire show!!!!! Great way to get some preserving done by watching our show! Sarah is really great, I am so fortunate to have such good friends and contributors to my projects. You all are really amazing. Loving my time with my granddaughter, I am getting really behind from what I need to be doing but I just can’t help it. Lol.
Yeah, that video is doing pretty good. I need to make a follow up. Video production has been lagging because of a lot of other things going on but I will work on it soon.
