My Mother was an elite gymnast, but while she made the Japanese team, there was no Olympics in 1944. I watched this video, and I'm glad Nadia had the chance to us her grace.
I remember my mother telling me when I was growing up how wonderful Nadia was as a gymnast and seeing this video of the Olympics was 5 years before I was born
For me, this theme song will always be Nadia's theme, not that stupid Young & The Restless theme. Kudos for your accomplishments, Nadia. This will always be your song.
I remember my sister bought this record and use to play it every day and pretend she knew ballet I use to tease her jumping around the room while the song played to bother her good times good times 😂
I remember everyone thought it was a forgone conclusion the Russians would dominate the Olympics then out of seemingly nowhere came this little Romanian girl running and jumping and flipping! She set the standard in class, character, showmanship, and athleticism that has never been surpassed!
I was 20 yrs old in 76 and had no interest in watching the Olympics, however I was sitting with my parents and they were watching and I was glued to the TV, she was incredible and I have to watch since that time.
When i was a small kid and knew nothing but the first time i heard my mom wacthing that soap oprera and heard that music it took me into another world and instantly reminds me of my mom when i was so young restless RIP MOM YOUR A QUEEN IN HEAVEN NOW
In 1976 I was 9. And she was one of the athletes I looked up to and wanted to be like. I truly feel sad for today's young ladies because today's women who should be looked up to are very few and far between. I have a 4-year-old granddaughter and I hope and pray that there will be someone in her lifetime that she can look up to. The year is now 2023 and God willing one will come soon.
She was my idol growing up. I wanted to be just like her. I even begged my parents to move to Texas I think bc that's where Bela and Marta had opened a gym when I was a kid. Sadly though we didn't move there we moved to Florida and I just want able to find a good gym close to where we moved and wasn't able to keep training the way I had before. I miss it everyday and wonder often how my life might have been had I not had to leave the gym I had trained in or was able to find one when we moved. I still watch her old performances in such awe. Gymnastics has evolved so much since then but I think it's also lost a lot of what made it so beautiful. For example there's less dance involved in floor exercises and I think the uneven bars had so much more that could be done and there was more movement between the high bar and low bar before they started being set so far apart
I remember watching Nadia in 1976 so graceful talented poised god only made one of her she'll always hold a special place in many people's hearts the greatest gymnist of all time ❤️❤️❤️👋👋👋👋👍👍👍
It always begins with a far Left regime. Then the Generals show up. And your life is not your own -- you have no choices -- you do what you're told. And you become a "pet" of the regime. They provide you with food, clothes and basic housing... and parade you around like a trophy on occasion. Before you know it, you're running for your life because the government is collapsing and if the revolutionaries catch you, they will kill you. Your life was easy before -- when the government was your "Daddy" but now you have to learn to provide for yourself. But because you've never been taught to do so, you meet unscrupulous people who take advantage of you -- that's the way it's always been. And your life is so hard until you learn there's a different way of life. You make friends who genuinely care about you. And now you can finally become the person you were meant to be.
