Neil Patrick Harris directed the Hollywood Bowl performance of Rent - there are many clips here on RU-vid, if you’re curious. It stars Aaron Tveit as Roger, Nicole Scherzinger as Maureen, Skylar Astin as Mark, Telly Leung as Angel, Wayne Brady as Collins, Tracie Thoms as Joanne (reprising the movie role), and Vanessa Hudgens as Mimi.

I know I'm probably the only one, but I had no idea that Neil Patrick Harris sang...and WOW! He's Great! The other guy...well I love Adam Pascal's voice, and hearing someone else sing Roger's part is weird. Probably why I haven't seen the stage production. I don't know if I'd like it as much. I mean I absolutely live the story, and it's messages, but...I just can't see others doing the parts that a lot of the original cast reprised in the movie. I actually like Rosario Dawson better than the original Mimi. (Yay RU-vid I at least got to sorta see the original cast perform on stage. Ok, I'm done rambling.)
Dr. Horrible's Sing a long blog is great as Okarrdess said. Check out the openings for the 2013-2015 Tony awards, and if you get a chance 2011 "Company" with the New York Philharmonic. You're right he really is a great singer. I got to see him do Hedwig live in NYC and it blew me away. You can totally see why he won a Tony award for that performance.
I've seen rent numerous times, in boston, jersey and new york and the cast chosen for the movie was terrible. The benny cast which was the traveling cast was awesome. The broadway cast was good as well as they should be, but sadly I've never seen NPH as Mark. I first saw it back in 99 and he was finished by then.
OK, now I get it. In the movie Mark seems bratty bc he's quitting a good job to make his movie. It's never revealed he has to talk about dumb stories like vampire welfare stories, etc.
Disappointed in the lack of professionalism. There was no connection between the two...felt like they were both scrambling for the spotlight. I love NPH, but I expect more from him. The song isn't about Mark; there's supposed to be a story and an emotion, a connection, there.
Sarah Lujan being honest, this song is taking place in different places, so they aren’t supposed to know each other is there until they come home at the end of the song. It’s their characters own personal journey, so they have to try and sing like they’re alone, yet still recognize the other actor on stage. I think they did fantastic
I saw them both at this west coast debut at the La Jolla Playhouse and they were both fantastic. NPH killed it that night. so good. Christian was really into it to.
Not the best song choice for them. The guy playing Rodger bombed the high notes, and they kept covering up for missing notes with runs and riffs- unimpressed. Come on, bro.
Elizabeth Anderson They didn't really have much of a choice what they sang, they had to sing this song for months on end being in the cast of Rent...I think the poor choice here is casting.

I think NPH would have been a better Roger and the other guy would've made a better Mark. Roger needs that sass that NPH brings to his performance, though he is a perfect Mark as well.
