I'm Chef Dave and I come from a small town called Jementah in Segamat, Johor. Between 2012 and 2019, I was working with 5 Star International Brand Hotels. After that, I sailed with the Disney Cruise line as a western cuisine chef.
However, the end of 2019 was a turning point in my life where I went vegan overnight after I watched 2 videos about cruelty in the egg and dairy industries, which left me feeling very emotionally disturbed.
Just a few weeks before 2020, I made a decision to go vegan and stand in solidarity with animals. To fight for injustice happening towards animals and be a voice for the voiceless.
I'm currently working on veganizing all traditional Malaysian, and Asian food to showcase to the world that being a vegan is much easier than you think.
I hope my journey can inspire others as a vegan chef with content surrounding vegan life, food and travel.

This place is a cruelty free food heaven. Rojak price seems reasonable given it’s in Kuala Lumpur, and comparing it to the cost of the drink in particular.
Hi Dave - sounds good - the part about the animal rights part for Malaysia. It simply IS an area much attention needed. Veganism is a lifestyle not just food. Am glad you will be taking it to the next level in Malaysia - we need important things like this to be talked about instead of ugly Malaysian politics alone everywhere everytime all over news. I believe no religion is inherently against extending acts of mercy, especially toward sentient beings beyond humankind. If humans are truly the superior species, shouldn't we recognize that all animals are deserving of our compassion? Those who are most conscious and superior are also entrusted with great responsibility the responsibility to do the highest level of good, a good that no other creature on this earth can achieve. *In Islam:* A man said: "O Messenger of Allah, I would have slaughtered a sheep but I had mercy on it." The Messenger of Allah said: "If you had mercy on the sheep, Allah will have mercy on you twice". (al-Adab al-Mufrad 368 Sahih Hadith) This Hadith demonstrates that it is in fact a Virtue to spare the life of an animal. Thus it is not Haram to be a Vegan. In Islam, animal sacrifice is *NOT* obligatory based on the principle, so long as there is no sound proof of it being obligatory, then the basic principle is that it isn't. There are no reports in the Shar'ia to suggest that animal sacrifice is obiligatory. The view that it is obligatory is a weak view. Even some companions of the Prophet did not consider Udhiya(Animal Sacrifice) as Compulsory: "I abstain from offering Udhiya even though I am able to offer it, fearing that my neighbour would think that it is obligatory" - Abu Masud al Ansari "I saw Abu Bakr and Umar would not perform Udhiya, disliking that they would be followed (by other people with regards to this tradition) - Hudhayfah bin Usayd *In Buddhism:* "All beings tremble before violence. All fear death. All love life. See yourself in others. Then whom can you hurt? What harm can you do?" - Siddhartha Gautama Buddha *In Hinduism:* Ahimsa - A fundamental concept in Hinduism, the principle of non-violence and compassion toward all living beings. It emphasizes the importance of causing no harm, whether through thoughts, words, or actions, and is often associated with practices like refraining from consuming animal products and peaceful living. "Ahimsa is the highest Dharma, Ahimsa is the highest self-control, Ahimsa is the greatest gift, Ahimsa is the best practice, Ahimsa is the highest sacrifice, Ahimsa is the finest strength, Ahimsa is the greatest friend, Ahimsa is the greatest happiness, Ahimsa is the highest truth, and Ahimsa is the greatest teaching." -The Mahabharata *In Christianity:* “I have come to abolish the sacrifices, and if you cease not from sacrificing, my wrath will not cease from you.” - Panarion 30.16.5 (Hebrew/Ebionite Gospel) “Be on guard, so that your hearts do not become heavy with the eating of flesh and with the intoxication of wine and with the anxiety of the world, and that day come upon you suddenly; for as a snare it will come upon all who dwell upon the surface of the earth.” - Luke 21:34, Evangelion Da-Mepharreshe (Old Syriac-Aramaic Manuscript) “It is kindness that I want, not animal sacrifices.” - Matthew 9:13 “James, the brother of the Lord was holy from his mothers womb; and he drank no wine nor strong drink, nor did he eat flesh.” - Hegesippus, quoted in The Church History of Eusebius, book 2, chapter 23 There are two traditions within Christianity: Pro-Meat and Pro-Veg The carnistic premise or bias of Western church tradition about eating meat is really based on European dietary customs, but they have made use of a couple of verses from the orthodox New Testament in order to reinforce their already established preference for eating meat. Scriptures that are associated with Paul are those that evolved into the Roman church. For the followers of Paul, dropping the vegetarian dietary requirement of the Jesus Movement was a way to make it easier to get more converts around the Roman Empire. The original Jesus Movement or Hebrew Christians (sometimes called Aramaic Christians, Essenes, Ebionites or Nazoreans) with their gospels, the Gospels of the Hebrews and Ebionites describe an Anti-Meat ethos: Jesus and his Apostles ate no meat, a John the Baptist who ate carob (locust beans) not bugs! And a rejection of ritual animal sacrifice, be it in pagan temples or the Jewish temple of Jerusalem. Jesus cleansed the Holy Temple and offended Jewish leaders, exactly because he could not tolerate hawkers selling livestock for sacrifice as described in John 2:13-16. Morality is no longer subjective or a dilemma when you are able to see yourself in others. Having moral agency means having the choice to do the right thing to the greatest degree. Go Vegan. The Animals are here with us, not for us. Put yourself in the animal's perspective for a change.
