With severe wounds it is ACB (check airway--blood may be choking that off, then fix circulation issues--meaning-plug holes). Otherwise your chest compressions are assisting the person in bleeding out more rapidly. A good Combat Medic can dress a serious wound in under a minute. You got four minutes to work from time the heart stops. Oh well, it is Hollywood after all.
