Hi, I'm lermand, I make videos about stuff I find interesting. I usually make a lot of 3D animations, since they help explain stuff, plus it looks cool :)
Japan: - Train must be EXACTLY on time. US: The train will be EXACTLY on time. within a 30 minute timespan, just be lucky we still even have trains you, get your driver's license you un-bootstrapped freeloader!
Well in Poland in the meanwhile my train stopped in the middle of a field like 20 kilometers from the nearest town and they just told us to either get out here or wait for half the night inside the train because the one in front of us broke down, the conductor told one dude something along the lines of "fuck off" when he complained
come to think of it i think there is a good lesson to be learned here for how alot of western employers nowadays treat their employees. i've been at companies where the whole team used to get berated by the manager for making understandable mistakes. and they all seem convinced that their harsh ways are the best ways.
I know it's bc im from a different culture but the person asking for an apology kinda pissed me off. Like it sucks that you're going to miss your transfer but is demanding an apology going to fix that. It just sounds pompous to me personally. Theres a very good point between doing your best to be punctual, etc. and living by "it is what it is". Im glad im not japanese bc I would not fit in with this kind of culture. Im by no means lazy but ill never sacrifice my own wellbeing for a bottom line. This kind of culture goes beyond strict, its abusive. They know its abusive and they dont care. Youre expected to work yourself to death. Its terribly sad and i hope japan starts seeing change for the wellbeing of their people.
These two vessels can barely be compared. With the sole exception of maximum speed, the Yamato class were superior to the Iowa class in every area of comparison- and this includes gunnery accuracy as well. The marginal range accuracy of the Mark 8 Radar Range Keeper over Japanese optics and the Japanese Type 22 Radar (approx. 45 yards vs. 89 and 109 yards respectively) was more than offset by the significant shell dispersion of the Iowa class over that of the Yamatos (1.9% of range for a nine- gun salvo vs. 1.3%). The reason for this is that the U.S. Navy never attempted to construct the most powerful battleship ever made. The Iowas were in fact treaty battleships with the 10,000 ton- escalator clause worked into the design. They were designed to escort aircraft carriers and to be able to overtake and destroy the Japanese Kongo class fast battleships.
When i was in tokyo in may nearly every train is delayed by 2-5 minutes, but it doesnt matter because the trains arrive every 5 minutes anyway. so personally i havent experienced any ultra-precise train time schedules, apart from shinkansen
Japan: We apologize for the train being approximately 0.0133 seconds too late. We have fired the incompetent operator and blacklisted him from the transport industry. Germany: Sorry brah the train is gonna be half an hour late because of some random construction on the tracks
I dont understand why the car turns black as the distance grows - I would have expected a really dark red. Black means 'no light at all' - but the light would arrive at the viewer, just later as expected...
Japan: Trains must run on time UK: Trains run if they want to. Guard strike, delays, driver strike, cancellations, wrong type of rain drop hitting the line and all hell breaks loose.
I really don't see how expecting the trains to run on time is a "toxic work culture". If we baby our populations, it won't make everything safer - it will make everything more dangerous. What should have happened here is that the railway company shouldn't have hired staff who were mentally fragile.
uh no. delays happen, the world is not perfect, people are not perfect, systems like in japan always evebtually fuck up big time, simply because humanity doesnt work this way. there is a difference between expecting trains to be on time and expecting trains to be on time within seconds, which japan does but doesnt work in the real world, your take is idiotic and actually drives many people in japan into suicide, in fact id kill myself too in such a culture.
I remember that accident as my Japanese wife and her family have a home not far from the crash site. Always watching for news from that region ever since we lived there and the Kobe earthquake of 1995.
USA could use a little dose of "toxic work culture". Right now we're a "toxic don't-give-a-shit-smoke weed-live off liberal government-finger the dog and watch porn-eat cheetohs" culture.
Apparently I can't tell what height a sound is coming from. I get the horizontal direction spot on, but the vertical direction I seem to have almost no conception of. Guessing the vertical direction when it comes from above my ear height seems worse than below it. I wonder if there's a statistical difference in this depending on how far above or below the average height a person is. 5:40 Works really well for me.
What's going on doe right ? What happened to optimizing games properly bro ? (somebody fill me in) 1. Over dependence with high end cards, processors, systems, and consoles ? 2. Game Project rushing because of money and time control by financial support ? 3. Half ass development and early releases for fast money intake ? Most Games exited the FUN area and went to fucking " BUSINESS MODE ONLY ". This is why I have absolute love for indie game developers who actually make really good optimized games with great content plus interact with their community.
