Love an update. Where you’re at now. Still smoking?
@sirlancelot609
@sirlancelot609 3 года назад
Thanks for watching and I appreciate you taking the time to comment. I subbed you btw. I live in the Portland area and still smoking but only about once or twice a week. I still very much enjoy smoking but like you I also enjoy working on the pipes. Good job on the videos and of course the pipe making, I think they look great!

Excellent video. How do you make the scoop part?
@sirlancelot609
@sirlancelot609 5 лет назад
Thanks! Good question! I probably should have explained that. The scoop is made with either a small sanding drum in the drill press or on the 1 inch belt sander top wheel. Thanks again for the view and comment.

Very cool that you make your own pipes. When I get back to the states I'm going to try making one. Going to look for this tea also.. Cheers.. pP

lapsang souchong , many a long year since I drank that, an acquired taste. nice pipes, well done.

Thanks Kieran! Lapsang is an acquired taste indeed. Someone on youtube suggested combining it with Jasmine tea to tone it down a little so I've been enjoying that way. Thanks for watching and commenting!

You hooked me at "I can't throw anything away". I knew I had to subscribe at that point. I always say "Waste not, want not". Nothing that is still usable, or could be co-opted for another use ever gets thrown away at my house. I build control line model airplanes, and everyone in that hobby has the hoarding gene and the scrap saving tendency. (Come to think of it, so do a lot of pipe smokers!) Among pipe smokers, it's more like C.A.D. (Compulsive Acquisition Disorder). Lance, I've found a brother. I look forward to more of your videos, Slim.
@sirlancelot609
@sirlancelot609 8 лет назад
Dude you crack me up! Regarding C.A.D., so true! I'm not a prolific poster of videos but rather a remarkable repurposer who occasionally likes make some dust or smoke some tobacco in front of the camera. Thanks for the sub brother! I sub'd ya back.

Thank you Bud! I don't always drink tea but it is nice to change it up. Glad you like the labeling idea. This way you can still enjoy the art while the tobacco is jarred. Thanks for watching and for the sub!

Have you thought about pipe mud for the bowl of the second pipe? Aristocob has some good stuff; cant say much about it personally because I haven't been using it long enough to really test it, but it's super easy to apply. Thanks!
@sirlancelot609
@sirlancelot609 8 лет назад
+Defiant Pipes I have thought about some sort of filler like that and I will certainly check out what he has. The problem for me is that I don't want to cover up the beautiful birds eye. I may decide to just clean it up and display, not sure. I appreciate the suggestion, Thanks.
@Gribley
@Gribley 8 лет назад
+Sir Lancelot Pipe mud goes on the INSIDE of the bowl! Purported to have magical burn-out-stopping qualities. May interfere with the draft hole, but you can always drill it back out. Just passing this along, I've never done it myself!

For myself, I love pipe and I would love to have a lot, but in the end, I smoke a pipe for the tobacco. I have around 20 or so pipes and I am more interested in having a pipe of each of the different kind... meaning a briar, a corncob, a Meerschaum and a morta. I still do not have a Meerschaum and a morta. When I'll have one of each, I think I'll be very pleased. I heard that each smoke somewhat different, and have different qualities. Take care my friend!

Hey Lance I'm curious as to the brand of jasmine... I have had a couple and they both seemed overpowering and too floral for my taste, but I am willing to try anything a couple times. I find earl grey pairs excellent with pipes, esp double bergamot from stash.
@sirlancelot609
@sirlancelot609 8 лет назад
+Pastor Pipes The Jasmine tea was loose leaf I purchased in a glass jar from the Fubonn asian market on 82nd. The writing is Chinese so I'm not sure of the exact brand. Jasmine tea is rather delicate and seems to get bitter if left steeping too long. Some people like to flush a tea like this with hot water and then let steep in fresh hot water for 2 to 3 minutes. I haven't tried that myself. Instead I just steep it for no more than a minute or until it starts to smell good :) Kind of like tobacco, there is a world of information and techniques to discover!

I swear, I'm really not a hipster! Yeah, a bland beverage can be the better choice. Although i haven't had a coffee/tobacco pairing that didn't work well. Awesome tamper, excited to see you show us how it's done. Now all I need is a complete wood working shop and I'm set lol. Lance, you're great in front of the camera, truly.
@sirlancelot609
@sirlancelot609 8 лет назад
+JB's_Beard I never call you a hipster. If I ever use the word I certainly wouldn't mean it in a negative way. I have had a couple pairings with coffee where they were battling for dominance, but you're right in that it usually works fine. Thanks for watching.
@jbs_beard2703
@jbs_beard2703 8 лет назад
+Sir Lancelot oh I know just kidding with you. with the beard and the pbr it's often hard to prove otherwise lol
@pastorpipes3885
@pastorpipes3885 8 лет назад
+JB's_Beard ok here's my two cents which aren't worth much, I used to bag on PBR until the last year or so... My snobbish tendencies have swayed to the common sense that Pabst does what they are trying to do really well. Make a low flavored beverage that doesn't get in the way of your burger, or burley for that matter. Just have to drink it ice cold... ;) cheers !!!
@jbs_beard2703
@jbs_beard2703 8 лет назад
+Pastor Pipes I have fond memories of PBR from my early 20s, me and my co workers would hang out at the Marathon Taverna and get $4 pitchers of pabst. So I had already gathered a taste for it, but honestly I like it; like you side has to be ice cold, but for the right pairing it fits the bill.
