UPDATE!!! Sony has now release a PlayStation Accessories app for PC where you should be able to disable the PS button there. I recommend giving that a try first.
ive been dealing with this bs for over 5 years now, who, outside of steam deck users, even uses big picture mode? it is such an awful interface, and the sounds it makes when you move around pisses me the fuck off. Thank god for this video
If you want to properly fix this go to the in game settings, you should see big picture mode just disable it and you’ll be fine without messing up your controller layout like this guy did
@@senjixluffy7983 I've tested that and it doesn't work. That's the obvious solution that I've already tried. Maybe it works for some but if not you have to follow the steps in this video. Thanks for the comment.
Fire, thanks for breaking this down bro. Is there any way to still have the button mapped to where we can use it but it won't activate BPM? I'm playing OpenMW trying to map the Guide/Xbox button to Quicksave (the default mapping), but it's not doing anything and instead tabbing.
I dont own that game so I cant test completely but are you on a windows OS? I've tested a couple of things and there is a way to get big picture mode to not open with an xbox controller without unbinding the button in steam at all. Regardless of what you have I'll leave the info here in case. Step 1: You'll have to have gamebar enabled.(Just search gamebar at bottom left and click gamebar settings and enable it) Step 2: Open gamebar and go to settings (top right of the widgets bar) Step 3: Click on shortcuts and enable "Open Game bar using X guide button" Then make sure its working (opening and closing gamebar) Step 4: Completely close/exit steam if you already have it open. (Important) Step 5: Open steam again and once it is open push the guide button and it should only open gamebar. Step 6: Do steps 2 and 3 again but this time disabling the "Open Game bar using X guide button" Now it shouldn't be opening neither gamebar nor big picture mode. Unfortunately I can't test if it will work in the game but if it does you will have to follow these steps every time before you start steam(pain).
My playstation button for some stupid reason is always being pressed, this saved me from getting a new controller just for one button, keep up the great work
The point of this tutorial is to make big picture NOT open. So if it aint opening then you followed the steps correctly. If that isn't what you want then don't follow the steps in this video.

You're welcome. Sorry but I'm not sure what you are talking about with the xbox controller share button. Is this a steam issue? What usually happens in steam when you press the share button?
@@tonyhormiga5242 I found that there's a bug if you connect your Xbox controller via BT instead of the cable then the Share button does not work, so that started happening when this steam this was affecting but at the end I found that there's an existing bug on the Microsoft side

Hmm. I'm not too sure. It seems like your x button is mapped to settings somehow. My only advice would be to refollow the steps in the video. That's all I got bud.

you have no idea how long ive beent rying to figure this out. My controller is an old ps4 controller and when i would press "X" it would also press the ps home button making it impossible to do anything with it. thank you so much.
Oh I've spent a long time myself trying to figure it out and gave up a few times. Eventually I just tried this and it worked. Had to share it with you guys since I couldn't find this solution anywhere. And you're welcome bud.

This is more useful than Steam support. Steam Support answer: Under Controller Settings in Big Picture Mode, there is an option called "Guide Button Focuses Steam", which when disabled should stop your Guide Button from opening BPM again." I sent them this video as answer.
The bug of Guide Button was switching to big picture mode. But not only... combined with joystick, it was also adjusting my volume. That is completely awful. It came out of nowhere. I don't know the purpose of those mysterious updates except for pissing players off. So I'd like to thank you so much! Even if this kind of BS will not be the last I gonna have to face.
