Grace Bowers has as much impact on my soul as Stevie Ray Vaughan did when I first met his music. And Santana is still the best concert I have ever been to. Great Stuff! Cheers from Texas.
Jimi Hendricks died when I was 19 yo and my future became bleak then. I saw Jimi play three times. Grace is the future for my ears and I feel lucky to have her.
First, the change in this song at 1:05 is excellent. I like how at 1:05 the song just becomes something, and I love how the bass and band dig into the new line as Scott goes forth. Second, a random stream on Spotify played Scott's song "Wheels" a few weeks ago - and I stopped what I was doing to check my Spotify tab to see who it was, because Scott's guitar work and tone on Wheels is unique. From there I searched him on RU-vid and I've been working my way through posting of his live performances since, and I love how he is so awesome yet only gets minimal views - in today's hyper-connected world I feel like I've joined a small tribe of Ryan Scott admirers. Hello others also appreciating Ryan Scott.
Folks get caught up in celebrity the "cult of personality" and "listen" with their eyes n egos instead of their ears. In my opinion, the whole thing is weak: On the definitive BOG version, the focus clearly was on the authenticity of the message, phrasing both vocally and guitaristicly, and, above all, the groove. This version loses all of that.
I think she’s a good guitar player. Not amazing (yet), but good. Thing is though. Stevie Ray Vaughan didn’t become known to the public until he was in his late-20’s. He had time to hone his craft playing around Austin and away from the eyes of the public. Give Grace another 10 years.
