The Simpsons is an American animated sitcom created by Matt Groening for the Fox Broadcasting Company. The series is a satirical depiction of American life, epitomized by the Simpson family, which consists of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie. The show is set in the fictional town of Springfield and parodies American culture and society, television, and the human condition.
The family was conceived by Groening shortly before a solicitation for a series of animated shorts with producer James L. Brooks. He created a dysfunctional family and named the characters after his own family members, substituting Bart for his own name; he thought Simpson was a funny name in that it sounded similar to "simpleton". The shorts became a part of The Tracey Ullman Show on April 19, 1987. After three seasons, the sketch was developed into a half-hour prime time show and became Fox's first series to land in the Top 30 ratings in a season (1989-1990).
The fact that there's an open, busted door in the super secret room is funny enough, but then the interaction with the stray dog makes it ten times funnier, right down to the dog's whimpering sound. Ever since I was like ten years-old, I've always found that to be so, so funny. And 30 years later it's every bit as funny.
I like how they all end up sharing the blame. Bart's idea to go on a road trip to begin with. Milhouse's idea to go to a world's fair that no longer exists Martin's idea to spend all the money they have left Nelson's idea to throw a stone at the sun sphere, destroying their only means of transportation.

For those wondering, that thing that Bart's playing at 2:02 is a pachinko machine. Pachinko machines are very popular in Asia, especially Japan hence the Japanese accent, "You a winner! Ha! Ha! Ha!" They're like a combination of pinball, plinko and slot machines. You shoot little ball bearings through the machine in an attempt to earn more to keep playing. In Japan, they have places called pachinko parlors where there are rows of these machines. Adults and children can both play them, when they are done, they exchange all the balls they win for merchandise not money because gambling is not allowed in Japan. Japan has sold many of them to America. America doesn't have pachinko parlors so people have them for their homes usually for family rooms, dens or man caves. They're very fun and very addictive. I know, I have 6 of them.
