loved the video! 13 guided days on the water and zero Muskies for me. I must be getting close to 10,000 casts by now so I'm excited about going tomorrow in Tennessee!

Any recommendations for equipment to use? Can I use the same rod I use for Steelhead/salmon, or do I need to buy a tougher setup like I have for my regular musky casting & trolling rods? 7 years chasing skees on LSC with the most typical tactics and I am ready for something new.

That is a beautiful fly and very nicely tied. I have no idea how you would ever fish that fly. When the materials in your fly become waterlogged it would weigh a great deal and be simply impossible to cast for any length of time. The bulky head and weight forward in the head is a sensible part of a fly. I suggest more consideration being given to materials that will not absorb water or that will drop water during the casting process. Weight is it considerable consideration. I find one articulation link to be sufficient in order to keep the weight down. I personally fish an 11 weight inorder to be able to cast for long periods of time. Smaller, more castable flies make my musky fishing more productive. Thank you for your video.

I have pondered this same thing, why do we spend so much time and effort to catch fish?? I 💯% agree it's about the challenge of catching a fish that's hard to catch. The harder to catch the better in my opinion!! Life is all a lesson and there is Always more to learn and grow our love of fishing!

Just for clarification: You said 40 or 60 lb. fluoro but then showed a picture of 40 lb. Maxima Chameleon. Which one are you using? Thank you! Love the John Gierach picture; his books are awesome.

I’ve been doing it wrong I guess, lol, I’ve only been getting the hair to go around roughly 360° not the 365° mentioned in the video. I don’t math so maybe I’m missin something?

As a guide my job is to put people on fish. While musky fishing patterns and programs can change very quickly. Why would I handy cap my clients by not checking on another pattern?They're using what has been working, so should I give them a program that hasn't been working just to check to see if it changed? Absolutely not!! Thats part of my Job as a fishing guide. When I fish I am using something different, usually a pattern that was working 2 weeks ago or will be working in 2 weeks. If I get a follow I hand my bait off to the person in front of me- because clients always get first water. So I am always checking to see if the bite has changed in the back of the boat to give my clients the best shot at catching multiple fish that day! Also Clients will be able to learn a lot about different styles of baits coming in as well as more follows/fish to the boat will only help educate the client on what to do and what not to do. Now if this doesn't sound like your kind of guide/ guide trip id be happy to refer you to another guide that just sits and watches you fish. P.S. I wasn't on a guide trip in this video

Ok, I’m picking up what your puttin’ down, but your only casting like 20 feet? At least when viewed from above. What am I missing?
@livinthedreamguideservice9756
@livinthedreamguideservice9756 3 года назад
This video was made for demonstrating the mechanics of how you water load, not how far you can. You Can Cast over 100ft once you get good at it. But for Video and demonstarting for the camera and what you can see I made 40ft casts.
