One Verse Devotional with Pastor Dave. Join us Monday through Friday for a quick encouragement from God's word. Who knows where we might go and who we might talk to? Might include a review or commentary on wherever we are that day. Whatever the case PD will get in and get out so you can go about your day.
“All such boasting is evil.” So claiming “I use only the BEST words,” “I hire only the BEST people,” and “the largest audience ever to witness an Inauguration” is evil? Good to know...
I’m not much into politics if that’s what your reference is about. The “such” is really referring to thinking you know what tomorrow holds. It’s arrogant to think we have any greater understanding than anyone else. That’s my take anyway.
I don’t think you can say that about all believers. The ones who are prideful seem to get the most attention. I guess that’s kind of the point. The ones who are humble, broken, and contrite before God you are not going to hear much about.
@@OneVerseDevo You're correct and I should take a step back and rephrase my comment. All believers I've personally met, except for some few Mormons and JW's, show to be full of pride.
@@user-zu7fg3wi6done of the things I’m learning from studying the Joseph story is that in order for God to truly use us we must be stripped of pride. That is the process that Joseph goes through in the way to his destiny.
@@OneVerseDevo So then if pride is a deal breaker for God, then a huge part of the believer demographic is going to be surprised when they get skipped on judgement day.
@@user-zu7fg3wi6d well thats a different thing. I was talking about being used by God. The story of Joseph shows us he needs to eliminate the pride in order to use us. Regarding judgment, Jesus died for the sin of pride as well.
Hi thanks for the comment. I’m pretty relaxed. A lobster Roll and the sunshine makes it difficult to be stressed out. Haha. I probably should have said “The Biblical Understanding Of Marriage Is Debated”. Attack was probably the wrong word. Wasn’t trying to stir up that kind of discussion. The discussion I want to have is about our relationship with God and how the Bible uses marriage as an example of a healthy relationship with God. Hope that explains. Again thanks for the comment and I hope we can have more discussions in the future.
Yes absolutely trying to mock Portnoy. Just having a little bit of fun. If he starts doing a Bible devotion with his pizza reviews I will start to get suspicious. Or maybe he would become the “one verse devo” guy, copycat wannabe.
The ice cream looks good. I like what you say here concerning music and I have always felt that the music played at Church is a downer (I compare it to funeral music) and not uplifting. I know there's a time and place for it, but when I think of and read about God and how awesome He is, I think of power and energy, not melancholia. Just to share a little personal bit, I got into music early on and have loved it throughout, but of course my taste has changed (some) and I'm into mostly instrumental these days. I used to be into some dark stuff and I don't mean Rock or Metal in general (I still favor that music), but rather specifically lyrically dark content. As far as music that plays in Church, or even on our Christian radio, I'm not much of a fan. My Wife is into a lot of it though and I appreciate many of the songs lyrics, but not so into the styles. Have a pleasant week Brother! ~Eric
Check out Neal Morse. He is someone I just discovered. From your message it sounds like something you might be into. Progressive Rock kind of stuff. He is a Christian, puts out some Christian stuff and some secular stuff. Never going to hear him on Klove. I post a link next.
Oh, man! Getting the do-nothings off the couch!? That's a tall order. Grace onlies been telling us for years as long as they got hell insurance, you're a heretic to even suggest lifting a finger. They're more than fine watching you work, though. Watch your back.
James 4:17 is talking about sins of omission. Things you know you should be doing but don't do. My point is that sometimes we focus on what we are not supposed to do (sins of commission), when maybe we should be focussing on things we ARE supposed to be do. The criminals crucified with Jesus are a whole other conversation.
You shouldn't be on either side. Mark Driscoll Is liar and false teacher with with a need to be pornographic In his sermons, and John Lindell Is a false word of faith charismatic deceiver, who Invites pagan sword swallowers to a mens conference. Who also hangs out with buddhist monks . These teachers are not my brothers. Both are horribly unbiblical.
Matt. 7. [21] Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven
