For years I thought this singer was Steinman, but I only just learnt it is Rory Dodd. I wish Rory Dodd was more known. Of course, many who are alert will know he sung the mighty male vocal in Total Eclipse of the Heart. His is a stunning voice. Will Meatloaf fans hate me for preferring this one to his?! I do think Meatloaf's singing range was mighty, of course.
PLEASE. Someone with SKILL needs to treat these songs with the respect that they deserve and make something beautiful. Sadly, this original, though cute, and semi-fun, weaken the song. In my opinion.
I remember listening to this in the eighties and there is a reprise at the end which is not on this film clip. This song was fantastic and realised this from from the song writer who write for Meatloaf's Bat out of Hell was a total bonus. A decade later this song was revised and this time it was with Meatloaf and it blew my mind. I have both songs as they're both fantastic but I also love the passion Meatloaf sings this. I know that both Meatloaf and Jim Steinman were born not far apart and also died not far apart. This really left a hole in my music heart.
Oh man I waited for this song on the radio and recorded it on cassette tape-my mix. Man this song makes me feel soo good. Thank you for singing it!! You still rock it❤❤❤
Lots of folks say the songs on Bad for Good are like sequels to Bat out of Hell - it's because the album was originally intended to be Bat out of Hell 2 and the original album title was "Renegade Angel" but Meat's voice was crocked after so much touring on Bat 1 so, according to an interview with Jim when the album came out, I think it was in Sounds or the New Musical Express, - Meat told Steinman to release it himself with his blessing and the promise that once Meat had recovered they would make Bat 2 - or Dead Ringer as it became. So, this is the original Bat 2 and Dead Ringer would have been Bat 3 if not for Meat's voice crocking.
Oh, I do. Got annoyed when he formed Meatloaf. Jim Steinman threw away his talent to do that. Still mad at Alan Parsons brilliant writer employed brilliant instrumentalists and what does he do? form The Who. At least James Taylor whom I love never changed
1:35 the guy was about to kiss, hug or have sex with the chick, but then he again turned his attention to Jim and started dancing with the guitar. good choice. bitches come, bitches go, but rock n roll is forever.
I like this song, but he should have been ashamed for pretending to sing it in the video. Even in the liner notes he went to great lengths to minimize Rory Dodd’s contributions.
