I've recently adopted this front on approach and my batting has become significantly better. I feel alot more comfortable and calmer at the crease because I am seeing the ball better now. However I do, do one thing differently than you were doing in this video which I find helps with the issue you were having getting forward to the ball. Instead of triggering with the right leg as you were, I trigger with my left leg forward (you'll see in videos this is what Fawad does vs spin and the other way vs pace). By doing it left leg forward it allows you to get your weight and head moving forward to drive and defend and if its short you can just push your weight back onto the back foot or duck. Try it out.
