It all depends. Generally here in the Northeast were running 200lb leader and thats on lures between 9-12" in the last year we have made a significant push at going to 400lb leader on all Typhoons unless otherwise specified. Soon we will release a series of videos in regards Cable hook assist rigs and rigging Lobo Lures Skipjack Hybrids.
Salman Abid. our next videos will be more detailed and there are some changes we would like to do. But all our prices are on our webpage at www.LoboLures.com
You're better off with a cable hookset under the skirt and a hook lock to orient the hook for better hookup ratio. This also reduces the chance of Wahoo or barracude cutoffs and is invisible under the skirt..
Skullhart When we made this video years ago alot of the guys were asking for a basic rigging. Since about two years ago we have been using a cable rig under the skirt. Your absolutely right about the cable rig though. several years ago we were fishing the White Marlin Open and lost 5 lures to a wolfpack of wahoo. This would have saved us the headach had they been cable rigged!
Nice to meet you Jerry! I live in east Texas. My sister lives in Pt. Neches, TX on the Gulf coast. I'm about a 3 hour drive from her. I just got into this jet ski offshore fishing thing, and it's been a good feeling for this 62 year old with COPD. Salt air does wonders for my lungs. I usually catch and release unless I'm fishing Sabine Lake which has some of the best Speckled Trout and Redfish in the world. I keep just enough to feed us. I've only caught 2 bill fish in my life, and no Tuna. Would love to catch some sometime. Wicked Tuna is one of my favorite shows. I agree with the chumming awareness. I give everyone I meet on the water the right of way because I'm the smallest thing on the water, but, I agree with a flag. The other side of that coin is getting people to pay attention to the flag and keep their distance from the fishing boat. I have noticed divers in the Gulf with their BIG FLAGS on display and people will speed within 75-100 feet of the vessel not knowing if a diver will have to make an emergency decent to the surface. Too bad if the boat hits them at 45mph. I'm just starting to get interested in Bill fishing. My goal is to catch a nice swordfish. I had some in a diner a few months back and I just fell in love with the taste. I enjoyed your video on the rigging of doorknob lures. Very informative.
