@@SerenityDragons Okay I just bought one and on the shipping label it says 58lbs. I plan to put my chuckwalla in it but first I have to seal the inside due to sand leaking out.
@Cagal08 I used black silicon. It wasn’t too bad to get sealed up. Just have to make sure you hit all the seams. There are basically 2 per junction of the aluminum frame and pvc panels.
This isn’t a wolf. It’s a scorpion. They don’t exactly walk much. Especially not at this size. Too concerned with being eaten. No animals were tortured for this video. I can assure you.
@@PizzaSheeet thank you very much! Appreciate that! Monitors are great! But I can’t recommend an Asian Water Monitor as a pet. They just get too big for most people properly house and care for. There are tons of great dwarf monitor species out there that make wonderful pets though! Like Ackies and Gilleni. But if you’ve got the time, funds, and space, water monitors make very rewarding pets.
We have breeding pairs of crested geckos and a juvenile pygmy mulga monitor in these vivs currently. Slowly acquiring more to replace our exoterra glass vivs. We have recently purchased and put together one of their 5x2x2’s for one of our subadult dwarf boas. Really liking them so far.
I got this enclosure today. Thanks for your video. I followed it and was able to set it up with no issues. Appreciate you!! Hope my bearded dragon likes it!! lol
This is a great video ! & haha y’all are hilarious 🤣😂 with the narration ! I was lol through the whole video ! I liked the “spoiled house lizard” that was pretty funny 😆 & haha how sad is that that we have become “trained food monkeys” for our lizards lol 🤣😂 what would they do without us ! & I can’t believe he downed that big fish in one gulp ! Haha & then I’m yelling at the TV telling JoJo….” GO GET A DRINK OF WATER, YOU CRAZY LIZARD ! “ 🤣🤣 & i’m glad I’m not the only one that TRIES to clean up their lizard after they eat lol ! Love watching videos of JoJo ! It makes my day ! 🤣😊
@freyathedwarfcaiman.7790 got ya. I was very confused. But highly approved of the enthusiasm! 🤣 Amy is wonderful! I’m a big fan of her and how she cares for her scaly terrorists.
We haven’t finished the setup as of yet. Currently rearranging the reptile room. Will be happy to remark on the ability of this enclosure to hold humidity once we get it done. I’m assuming humidity will be a bit of challenge considering the entire top of the enclosure is a screen. That can be easily solved by cutting pieces of plexi glass and covering parts of the screen. Can also use plastic wrap if you like. Also live planta assist in keeping humidity stable.
@@SerenityDragons ah, okay, I look forward to an update then. Would laying a pane of glass help? I considered that but I'm worried it might be too much. I'm completely new to snakes, someone told me it's okay if she hits 100%humidity though
@Natezilla01 unless the animal is aquatic, 100% humidity is rarely good. In ball pythons and boas, excessive humidity can lead to the snake being constantly in contact with moisture and unable to dry off. This can lead to scale rot. If the tank gets cool with 100% humidity, the risk of a respiratory infection is almost guaranteed. We don’t keep ball pythons, so look up the appropriate enclosure parameters and keep the humidity within an acceptable range. For boas that range is 60-90%. We mist at night after the heat lights are off to spike humidity. Then when the lights come on in the morning, the enclosures slowly dry out to a lower humidity level. This keeps everything balanced for the boas and helps maintain a more natural humidity cycle for them. I’d assume the same can be done for a ball python. Another side effect of keeping the humidity too high will be mold growth. You don’t want your reptile inhaling mold spores. Can lead to fungal infections. My advice is find someone you trust in the ball python space, and ask them how they keep their snakes. If you ask on Facebook pages and in forums, you’ll get an overload of conflicting information that can be impossible to sort through.
As to the pane of glass, you want some air circulation. So a pane that doesn’t cover the entire screen should be fine. But glass is fragile and not all glass is heat resistant. If you sit a heat lamp on the glass, it may shatter. Also if you plan on mounting a UV light externally on the lid of the enclosure, glass filters out almost all UVB.
@@SerenityDragons okay, thankyou for the helpful answers. I'll look into more research, a friend recently dumped her on me but I've already gotten attached lol
We have a filter on the pond so we don’t have to do water changes as often as we did before. We were doing complete water changes twice a day before we added the filter. I ordered a Python hose off Amazon. You hook it your water faucet on your house and uses the water pressure to create a suction that drains the water from the pond. You then flip a valve and are able to immediately refill the pond without having to change houses. It’s very handy. We currently do a water change about once a week when we deep clean the filter.
Its a 4 foot exo terra that we put a divider in. We actually took two pieces of scrap 1x2 board, cut them down so they would span the entire length of the lid and painted them black. Then laid them across the top! They keep the dubia enclosures high enough so that a LED light can still fit and air flow isn't interrupted
How are these doing now? I’m really considering getting one for my hyla cinerea. Also- thank you for the build video and this one! I’ve watched both and they’re really great! 😊
@@SerenityDragons I’m stoked about your new little dude as well lol ! I’m sure I will be equally as excited when I get my Ackie….whenever that will be ! 🤔🙃 I’m just a huge fan of all monitors….well…most of them anyways 🤣🦎
Yes! Super simple. The little plastic bag with the lock on it has the instructions printed on a sticker. There is a small silver wire push pin in the bag. Place that in the little hole on the bottom of the lock. Turn to the combo you want, then remove pin. You should be set
Just dawned on me that you might be asking about installing the actual lock. 1)Place one rubber square on the back of the lock.2) Thread two screws through the lock and mat. 3)Then line up with holes on the door. 4)Place last rubber square on the inside and and thread the screws through it. 5) loosely apply bolts to those screws. That way it's easier to add the last 2 bottom screws.
So there is supposed to be the rubber square on both sides of the glass. I tried that and the one on the inside keeps warping as I tighten the screws. :(
@@brandyboyd9102the 1st design they came out with only had 1 thick black pad. That is the one in this video. The new design has 2 thin black pads. I'm not sure why is would be getting twisted on the screw. The hole in the pad might have not been punched out appropriately
Thank you for making this! I just got time to put my enclosure together and while it looked pretty straightforward, I was glad to have your video to reference to double check I wasn’t going to screw anything up. 😂
Thank you for this review! I was dead set on getting a Reptizoo (that’s usually the brand I go with) but I remembered these and was wanting to know more about them.
Great video ! What kind of fish were those, they went down the hatch no problem lol 😂 & funny about Joanna not being a Joanna haha. You can still call him JoJo….🤣 so you don’t have to change the name completely ! & my Georgia might not be a Georgia as well…lol…not 100% sure yet…but I do know, I won’t be changing her name to George haha that’s just lame. 🤣🤣🤷🏼♀️
The store we bought them from had them labeled as “round mackerel”. 😂 They look like cigar minnows to me, but they are food safe so therefore probably a better option than actual cigar minnows used for bait. I’m not upset Joanna is a boy, but the fact that the dad is 7ft 85lbs makes me go “whoa boy. We are going to have a large lizard!” 😂
Haha that’s one big Joanna hug ! But those monitor claws are no joke ! Georgia was climbing around on me earlier & got me with her gnarly sharp claws !
These lizards sure know how to make our hearts stop… regardless, if it’s a newly hatched baby, or a full grown adult ! I would’ve been freaking out for a minute as well. Glad it’s ok, sure is a little cutie ! 😊
I've checked on him every hour since we moved him out of the hatch box. That was a really slow start. The albumin in his egg was really thick. I think it was acting like a glue as it dried on him
