Project cars, how to video's, tech tips, car talk, off roading, road trips, car reviews, this channel is basically a mix of whatever I'm working on in my shop or doing for fun that has an automotive element to it. I have broad tastes and no real brand preference so you can expect to see nearly anything on the channel. I have big plans to grow the channel to offer an extensive array of help type video's for the do it yourselfers but I will be mixing in other content along the way to keep things exciting.
You can also check us out on Facebook, I’ve formed a group there where you can ask automotive questions, share pictures, stories & video’s about you cars. m.facebook.com/groups/804277353092292
Was this a 3.3l V6? Is a wheel alignment necessary after? I hear that aftermarket axles are not as good as factory and sometimes you get weird vibrations with them. Is this true? I have a ripped outer CV boot. Is it better to just replace the CV boot?
@dwaynepiper3261 This was a 3.5, not sure if there is a difference on that. I have used lots of aftermarket, axles over the years and only once have I had a problem (avoid GSP brand), OEM Is normally the safer bet, but it is certainly not necessary to get a smooth axle. It's normally not worth replacing the boot, Lots of labor and then the axle fails a short time later, because normally there has already been dirt in it by the time you noticed.
@dwaynepiper3261 Not unless somebody has put an aftermarket camber bolt kit in it, it would have smaller bolts than with an offset lobe on them, these are the bolts that go through the strut into the spindle.
Hey Matt, I recently bought a 2004 GT 5 speed in Florida with only 67k miles but it only came with one ignition key, so I need to make spare keys. It came without keyless entry FOBS as well. When I replaced the factory radio with an aftermarket, I didn't see a wireless module behind the A/C panel, which I expected to see there. My questions are 1) what's the cheapest way to make a replacement ignition key, and 2) am I mistaken with respect to keyless entry module location? I bought an aftermakret kit for keyless entry but now I'm wondering it it doesn't make more sense to get whatever factory hardware up and running as I can buy two key blanks and two Chrysler FOB clones for less than $20 on eBay. Your PT vids have been host helpful in rehabbing this classic beast! Thanks!
@Project314 Sorry, I wish I could help you more on this, but I have only ever just had a key programmed at the dealer. You may have locksmith or something that can do it in your area, but we just don't have many options for that where I live.
I actually was watching one of your videos earlier this week and looked at the name and was thinking the name seemed different or off. Lol.😅 Anyway we PT Cruiser owners will ever be in your favor for all the video content you created on PT Cruisers. They'll be used years to come. We appreciate you soo much and I'll be praying for your health.💕🧡
My parents bought this car new in 1991. I just inherited it. Car is great mechanically, but the leather seats are done sadly. Looking forward to restoring it
Hi, do you think I can move one hinge up/down a little without loosening the one on the other side? The gaps are perfectly even and I just want to adjust the height on one side a little bit.
I was thinking about taking my 2013 sorent to the kia dealership here in Alberta, but dealerships make me nervous about the amount I will cost. I would do it myself, but living in my car means if I screw up, we'll that would be a real problem. 😬. In your opinion, should I just bring it to them and bit the bullet, or try to do it myself and 🙏
@MyGreatestEscape If you're nervous about it I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself, It's a pretty high skill job. The dealership isn't necessarily the best place and certainly not the cheapest, I would check around with smaller independent shops, but make sure you check for reviews.
It’s possible to access the oil filter when you are right under the front differential… If you are a 14 year old child. Whoever designed that engine probably didn’t think about 4 wheel drive because there is no way I hell an engineer would do this, I made such a mess trying to get that oil change done
Excellent video, I've noticed after replacing both front lower control arms that the Santa Fe sits about 3 inches higher in the front than the back now. Is this normal and will it settle down after a bit?
@michaelparker6819 If you had replaced the struts it might sit a little high, but I don't understand why the control arms would cause it to do that. Are you sure you got the right arms?
Very informative video which allowed me to replace my IAC Valve. Only exception I found was that my Torx screw was a T20 and not a T25. I have a 2005 PT Cruiser with the standard turbo (not high output). I have learned a lot from watching your videos on PT Cruiser maintenance. Thanks for posting this helpful video! - Brian
@brian102256 Thanks for the feedback, I always appreciate that. That is weird that they changed the screws, but I can believe it, they actually changed a lot of little things over the different years.
How can I tell if the computer is on its way out? Recently I was driving home and suddenly my engine started to reduce power. It was almost like it was driving in limp in mode, and the speedometer stopped working while the reduced power situation was happening. My car is an '04 GT 5 speed. On two occasions it did this over the course of a 20 mile drive, for a while topping out at a speed of maybe 40 mph. After I made a stop and was out of my car for 10 min, I started it back up and rode another 10 min home with no problems, although the check engine light flashed periodically, but it didn't do this as it was having problems in real time. The codes that came up were: P0300 (Misfire) P0456 (Evap) P0002 (Fuel volume regulator control) P0573 (Cruise control/brake ) P0423 (Heated cat converter) P0202 (Injector 2 circuit malfunction) P2305 (Ignition coil) P0252 (Injection pump fuel metering) P0038 (Heated oxygen sensor) P0032 (Heated oxygen sensor) I had another event yesterday, adding codes P381D, P3200, and C3300. Does this sound like an ECU?
@Project314 I would start by cleaning up all your grounds and electrical connections. I have a video in the PT Cruiser repair playlist on how to do that.
I need some help my axle slides in nicely but when I wiggle to see if it’s snapped into place. I can still pull it out. What am I doing wrong I have a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe.
@bobbyvenegas9844 Sometimes you gotta slam them in there pretty hard to get it to snap the ring into the groove. I have also had situations where the rings on aftermarket axles aren't well fitted and I have had to stretched them bigger or compress them smaller accordingly, to get them to fit properly.
Just did this job myself with your video it made it a lot easier then it would have been , but definitely wasn’t an easy job with one guy lol , highly recommend having another set of hands and some large jackstands to hold the truck up high
Great video, thanks, I just bought a 07 PT cruiser convertible for 1300$ I had no idea how to drop the top I’m going to try it out , looking forward to watching your videos on this car
@JorgeMartinez-wt4vs Sorry I do not. All my PT Cruiser videos are in a playlist and unfortunately I am unable to make any more, so what's there is all I can offer.
I only just found your channel after asking if anyone ever autocrossed a PT, they’re cars I’ve grown up with since 2004 (and I’m 21), I will definitely use your videos in the future whenever I finally get one, I hope the best for you as a PT enthusiast and as someone who’s in a family of bad backs.
@Vin80_ Thank you so much, I really appreciate hearing that! That was a very fun day auto rossing that gold PT, wish I had filmed it better but I was too busy having fun.
Great video, subscribed. I really think those bright blue PT Cruisers are pretty, although I never had one. I had a Taupe (kind of a Champaign) sedan which was crushed by a tree. Currently have a silver convertible, a black convertible, and a rare Seafoam Green (spring 2004 only) sedan.
Does the direction the arrow on the strut mount is pointing matter at all? Some say it should point forward, others backward, others to the outside, otherwise the world will end.
@nickm4064 I'm not sure, I don't recall the ones I had having that arrow. I would say if everything lines up and it goes in smoothly, then you did it right.
Thanks for all the videos dude. They've really helped others and people like you are the reason RU-vid is successful. Wishing you good health in the future!
Great video thanks for making this .These cars are not hard if you’re a good mechanic I have a 2005 GT turbo I put over 100,000 miles on, but I am able to do the work myself.
@@CarswithNash Good thing I don't need to use a POS to plow snow. I prefer my terrible cars unladen with other terrible ideas. But you can keep coping with your bad decisions. I bet you'd get along great with the guy in my town that has a Le Baron graveyard.

My 2012 rear pads are like new, same as disks or rotors. I just remove everything to clean it and lube with new grease. This is a piece of cake in my car, not rust, not problem.
Good video brother....seriously when you showed the K and N filter through the light and it looked like a window screen with a lot of holes for dust/dirt to go through...that's what did it for me...I put my Wix or Stp premium air filter back in 👍
@@CarswithNash Depending on the year, they appear to be about $50-$60 a set. Now, I appreciate the inventiveness of your approach (actually "fixing" the mechanism), but sometimes a new part is less complicated.
@CHunt-cz1ek Nothing inventive about it, I'm a bodyman with over 20 years of experience and that's just how things are typically aligned, both in factories and repair shops. Now if the hinges were actually worn to a point where it was compromised and weakened, I would definitely spring for new ones, that was not the case, it probably wasn't even that worn, just a combination of a little wear added to poor alignment from the factory.
