TFM has evolved into something else since their founder parted. They've no gearing for change and policy when I last interacted with them, but I guess its hard when your views are limited and echoed here. Thanks for bringing in Soon Seng. I think education is the most important thing in any society. Government involvement is a double-edged sword, though. On one hand, education is a government responsibility and a basic human right. On the other hand, it can be politicised and sometimes loses its focus on actually improving our education system.
Can we first ensure that every of our students are able to complete their primary and secondary education without being bullied or enduring physical, verbal or sexual abuse from other students or even teachers themselves?
@@fraeck I wish there is a place to complain about class bullying, & teachers actions against students. I wonder if there is a statute of limitation to reveal all the cruelties exhibited by the the teachers?
education dept. need to asses first student, check whether how many student unable to read alphabet, need to be have extra one or so to learn this at the initial stage

A very much relatable discourse, even as a teacher coming from a traditional track into teaching such as myself. I want to congratulate TFM enhancing education quality and equality as well as becoming part of the education ecosystem. Comment on 1:17:06 - Ensuring transparency around school performance to ensure accountability by reporting it to Parliament is a good way to monitor policy implementation but the downside of emulating Ofsted’s way is that they publicly publish the school performance which has caused stress to school administrators. Suicide cases among school administrators have been reported in the UK due to Ofsted’s approach. Hopefully, if this idea were to be implemented in Malaysia, the part where publicly announcing school performance won’t be put in place as publicly announcing school SPM rankings (not endorsed by MOE, but a common practice for JPN and PPD to measure school performance - which in this case is narrow in scope) is already a way to ensure school performance, which at times tends to demoralize teachers and schools. Comment on 1:25:00 - I agree that policy formulation + adoption sometimes do not get translated well into policy implementation. Teachers are basically the active actors (practitioners) that implement those policies and yes we do need some support but the discourse on the ground overwhelmingly reflects that MOE isn't doing enough to support teachers. Perhaps this could also be a teacher mindset problem instead of MOE's lack of effort. Teachers need to look for solutions themselves instead of waiting to be spoonfed. There are a lot of online resources and workshops nowadays that we can use to adopt and adapt to our teaching. We always advocate for teacher autonomy, but at times the autonomy isn't utilized well. Sometimes we need to take capacity building into our own hands.
Every types of workers in Malaysia are suffering. Not only teacher.... Low pay, long working hours. Who is not suffering. Only the walauns are not suffering because that get dedak for free with good fortune. Lazy people get dedak for free. very nice😂😂
To build a "successful", well moral, great ethic and good character future generation involved not only parents at home, but the schools, community that they are living and interacting with ...... and the society at large!! AS the saying goes, it takes the "whole kampung" to raise a good kid!! Nevertheless, the most essential part is the "healthy" family unit. It does not really "an issue" if the family is 'poor" (though that's an advantage) .... because we have seen lots of great human-being .... are raised from poor family ....... and the opposite are true too!! So ..... as the above podcast cited in certain points, kids need lots of caring, love, encouraging, positive values and affirmation for them to grow up as a confident, well manner and great human-being!!
"Never underestimate the value of teachers" is probably one of the most ironic statements globally because the output of teachers is immeasurable in terms of tangibles. The market doesn't put a numerical value on teachers and that is why exam results put so much unjustified pressure on teachers who have a bad hand; furthermore, some experienced teachers tend to mass-market their lessons and mass-produce lessons that are extremely exam-oriented - fair play to them, but the antithesis of teaching IMO. 'I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.' - Maya Angelou. Until there is a way to measure growth and impact by a teacher, the industry will either remain a "retiree/luxury" job or turn into a gimmicky, short term solution provider that games exam results to the masses. Every little story Seng Soon has shared here is inspiring, though. Keeps me going as a teacher <3
Passion is not the only atribute to be a good teacher. Neither does having a university degree prepare you to be an effective teacher. This is proven by the results of so many students who can't read or write English after many years of education.

The 60 billions cost is actually for using Japanese technology. We however have alternative solution to reduce the cost by looking at China highspeed train. If based on KM said we should all open arms welcome, then why the same other group (you know which referring to) reject Rohingya refuges despite they are also Muslim? Coz they "low class"? Don't they also faced genocide? So if now accept refuges into our society, give them job, give them education, then why is Msia Govt still not giving those Sabah 80's/90s IC identify? Need to get this right. Singapore Govt DID NOT reject local Sporean scholarship. It is based on results merits. So long you meet, you apply, chances you get it. Whereas Msia Govt, even meet the result requirements, high chance doesn't get (based on quota). Now THAT'S the different. If wanna do political based podcast, then be real and truthful. If some clown wants to save the world, let them do it at their own expense, not at taxpayers money especially when only 17% of a population of 32 million is paying taxes.
HSR only cater for city people. Government need to improve infrastructure in rural area. Sabah and Sarawak people will be jealous as their transportation infrastructure in poor condition.
Being a Sarawakian I am proud of our current leader (YAB Premier) who has the vision for Sarawak. He is the prime mover of Sarawak development. When Sarawak politically united and no racial/religious tension like in Semanjung our leader can focus on human capital development as well. No other state in Malaysia has Post-Covid Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.
