I learned this tune a few years ago off the Estill recording, kinda forgot about it, and just now relearned it from your video. Another killer tune that will continue to make me persona non Grata at jams. As it should be. Thanks so much for this.
Used to play this one back in the day. I always thought it sounded like a more notey version of the tune Tommy Jarrell called "Rochester Schottishe", which is a bit of a floating title.
Hey Sean, yeah - it's definitely similar in places to the Lost Indian popularized by Tommy Magness, Kenny Baker & many others. Although done in Clyde's inimitable way, of course!
How wonderful. I lived right down the road from Frank and Jane George and spent many hours in their company. This takes me back to my youth in Speed, WV. Thanks for sharing this.
Those recordings of Franklin George and John Summers that Patrick Dunford made are beyond description. So is this! On the record, there is a snippet of George and Summers playing a twin fiddles version of "Fisher's" that is stunning.
