well presented, jack. interesting departure from normal design. IMO the have a lot of convincing to do on the door on the bow to the dining area when she starts taking green water. i know its not intended for those kinds of conditions but things happen and biscay always surprises. this seems like a literal attempt at a floating condo rather than a boat. im sure thye will sell. this is that the wife wants these days.
Not the best looking MY Sunseeker have ever made, the external looks will certainly divide opinion. The internal style and functionality are excellent though. However when going up against a Princess in the same class it's an easy choice, X80. Great video Jack, seeing the boat in action and conducing a tour whilst under way is a welcome change from tours at a show, would love to see move like this. Have you ever thought about doing a video with a complete novice to demonstrate how easy, (or hard!) it is for someone who's a beginner to operate a MY? Just putting myself out there as a willing volunteer 😀Simon
Brilliant review again... I think this boat is a bit of a game changer. You put a lot of work into this post and it paid off... well done. Very enjoyable.
Don't know about the looks. You have to consider how it would look at night gliding out of the harbor at Ibiza all lite up with dance music blaring as it does an evening party charter. If you check out some of the RU-vid channels for boating for the Miami River you see 3 or 4 of this style of Yacht being used for charter, sometimes by the day or even hour, so you can see them at work in their natural environment. (What would David Attenborough say about them?) The business case for these is obvious in those videos. The Princess X80 is just as "ugly" as this and sells well. Nick's review of the X80 pointed out that the crew area on that yacht was configurable - is the crew area on this yacht configurable also?. A Nordhavn or a Kady-Krogan is not pretty compared to a classic SunSeeker but they sell. As for picking between your 3 choices I don't really see a great difference to drive a choice. The Sparkman-Stephens Ketch Salamandar that you sailed past is way prettier that any of these boats. I probably would NOT take one of these as a private yacht - the crew area is to small. I would take a set of smaller engines and a smaller engine room to improve crew accommodations. The crew is far more important to a happy private yacht than another 5 - 10 knots you would never use.
120k for a sun bed/seating unit, wow what value, once again a manufacturer knowing their clientele, and of course seeing them coming from a mile away, good for them for getting away with it i say, a mug and his money are soon parted is an old saying, never more apt than with the price of extras on these already ridiculously expensive boats.
Brilliant review Jack and team, superb! I guess it’s perfect for people looking for volume of accommodation on the water over anything else. The handling at sea did impressive though. I can’t imagine buying this style of boat, but if I was it would be this or the Princess. Tough choice.
