The 12 footers have a shorter handle too. The Ugly Stik BW 12’ has a much longer handle. I do like the rods though. One thing I noticed is the paint seems to chip off on the Orange Crush.
Thanks friend. As time goes on mine are getting shorter and shorter when I’m trying for max distance. All situational. Thanks for watching brotha. God bless!
They can cast a lot of weight easily. I just wish the handles were a little bit longer to help with the cast. Also, my Orange Crush paint seems to chip off more easily than the Green Goblin one.
@BrawnyCal yeah I heard that's the only drawback is the handles are a little bit shorter then most custom rods. I'm going to put them to the test in the surf and this drum season fir sure
I just tried to look up online the exact measurement but can’t find the info. It should fit no problem. My cousin almost exclusively uses Penn reels on the border for monster gar and catfish. I’m using a reel bigger than a 6000 Penn and mine fits perfect.
Are there any dropoffs that are around 4 or 5 feet or more close to shore at this lake. I see when you walked out in the shore it was only a foot or so deep.
At Calaveras Lake there’s deep drop offs on the left side of the lake. The right side of the lake has a gradual drop off. Always be careful regardless. There’s also alligators at Calaveras Lake.
@@warpigs777 here all about the same. Some spots that are mud button holds some holes. Be safe if you’re in waders. I usually wear water shoes in the summer and waders in the cold.
U just turned loose 10 lbs. of good eating fish...... Gut it clean it put it into a pressure cooker, bones and all. Follow simple directions on pressure cooking, you come out with good white fish with no bones, and fine tasting fish....Old people like me know what to do with carp.....Simple trash fish to some, food to others who know.... Doc
AY man just wanted to say, love watching ur vids im always hesitant when it comes to going to Calaveras or Braunig but you inspire me! i shall try when it gets cooler. BEST of luck fellow angler.
Hey brother, appreciate the kind comments. If you ever see me there don’t be shy, stop by and say what’s up. The fishing community is great in SA. If you have any questions let me know. Good luck!
Outstanding, Tj. I've been out of the fishing game with a fracture finger. The other day, we hit the Caloveras lake and caught couple fish. Check it out. Thank you for sharing your video! 🎣🐟
Nice 22'' keeper, brother. I've been out with a fracture finger. The other day, we hit the lake and caught fish. Check it out. Thank you for sharing your video! 🎣🐟
Dude nice fish! Always looking for spots around town to do some carp fishing. I've seen some big ones around that area. Hope you got a longer handle net by now.
I bought it online over 5 years ago. I don’t remember the name, I think it Fish N Mates Junior. It’s aluminum and so light you can carry it with one hand. I remember it being about $100. Lasted me a long time.
I happens too a lot of lakes and ponds when there's no water flow through it there's not enough oxygen in there in the summer time so when the water gets hot too hot as no oxygen in it only a strong fish survives this happens every year I'm 39 years old
I’m no marine biologist. TPWD said heat wave is contributing to oxygen level changes in the lake. The power plant already discharges very hot water. The combination is when this happens. It’s also a yearly occurrence. Some people are saying this time looked worse than other years. I’m still learning as well.
I see gar there surfacing but never tried to catch one. The most fun I’ve had here was using a ultralight rod with 6 lb mono fighting carp. They fight good.
@@ChillingwithMalc boom! People don’t really respect them here. I catch and release everything, so fish are fish to me. I like to catch all fish no matter the species.
I got the medium action and I prefer it over the Mad Katz because the handle is longer. I usually fish the bank so it helps to cash further. If I was on a boat, wouldn’t hurt. They are similar, again, the Slimecat has a longer handle. Even my 12 ft Mad Katz rods have short handles.
@@BrawnyCal no they aren’t. Calaveras lake is a power plant lake the chemicals from the power plant are released into the lake and disease the fish and if you eat them you could get sick. This will explain it better for you. “eating fish from Calaveras Lake may pose health risks due to chromium discharges from the J.K. Spruce Power Plant.”
