I didn't realize how much Floyd talks similar to Sugar Ray. Maybe that's just how the brothas talked back then (picking up things from his dad and Uncle Roger)
Boxing is brutal. Not because of the physical toll. Imagine how hard this sparring partner trained to get as good as he did. And he's really, really, really, really, really good compared to a normal person. Yet, after all that, there are still people who can toy with you.
Just rewatched the sugar -haggler fight... that was total 🗑 especially with haggler already being the champ... sugar didn't so anything to him except jump around 😂 total 🚮😂
HE QUIT BECAUSE ALL SUGAR RAY DID WAS CLOWN AROUND AND NOT FIGHT. HE WAS NOT A FIGHTER JUST A CLOWN IN THE RING AND ROBERTO GOT FRUSTRATED WITH HIS STUPID ANTICS
I'm 66 years old, and Ray is the best Welterweight I ever saw, possibly the best fighter I ever saw. The epitome of ballet is grace, and monstrous strength. His boxing was beautiful to watch.
Leanord broke Duran DOWN. When he hit Duran with that body shot (after he’d quit) and Duran kept walking away it’s OBVIOUS that Sugar Ray had completely emasculated him.
Been watching boxing for over 50 yrs been to a few of rays fights live as well as Tommy hearns and Hagler, don't even mention Mayweather in the same breath as Leonard's ray would knocked him out in 9 rounds maybe less !!! Watch the sugar ray leonard the complete documentary and you see there will never be another SRL .. he had it all in his youth and prime , my cousin by marriage Davey pearl Hof referee said leonard was once in a lifetime fighter.
can't stand him, don't like his TV personality. Marvin was ripped off in their fight and he knew it. but he has got to be the slickest middleweight that ever lived. overrated as an overall all time great fighter in my opinion, but nobody had the footwork that he had. just perfect every time.
How he took Marvin to school after 5yrs off and beat him by 3 rounds facts try again . Out pointed him and made Hagler miss all day Hagler loss deal with it , or do you want some cheese to go with that wine 😅 ohhhraa MF
The lesson I learned from watching this fight for me is as follows! When you meet a talent or challenge that is beyond your expectations you have to first admit that to your self! I’m in way over my head! To have any chance of success you Then have to go outside your comfort zone! And lock in on the unknown quantity that is within somewhere deep! Not in desperation but in an acceptance of the situation and openness to,…… Well!..Walking on water! And not getting wet! You gotta tap into something else outside your normal perimeters! So being confident in yourself, where you are right now is good, but it may not be the reality! It might not be enough!
Roberto Duran: No mas, no mas... Also Roberto Duran (probably): No mas, no mas...because I came here to box and Ray came here to dance around and rope-a-dope and behave like an idiot.
