The Classic hits format seems to be a trainweck these days as well. Classic hits used to be pop music from 60’s 70’s and 80’s with a little 90’s. However now all they play are rock hits and very little pop.
BRING BACK Mix 104.1 KHOM FROM THE '90s!!! NOLA needs a return of "Mix" with its variety of dance, alternative, and R&B plus #1 HITS from AROUND THE WORLD (that you just can't hear anywhere else...EXCEPT on Mix 104.1! lol) How can we make this happen?? Are there any independent stations anymore (like "Mix" was when it started)??
Yeah when I was in BatonRouge recently, the Radio dialed just sounded so sad when I looked up all the people running Radio in between Baton Rouge and New Orleans it was just like 3 companies that’s why Radio was so boring nowadays because there’s really no individuals running the show it all moneybags
@@RobertRadio757 Yeah the stations today sound nothing like they did in the '90s. When I was there in '97 there was Mix 104.1, B97 (and 102.5 in BR) playing Top40 and during an amazing time for music....Mix 104.1 was also playing No. 1 hits from around the world in addition to the Top 40. Everything they played was great and there were many surprises and songs you wouldn't hear being played anywhere else. I was 11 at the time and MIx 104.1 was my first experience discovering music and those days will always be with me. I believe Mix was bought by Clear Channel in '98 and they started cutting back their huge playlist and made it another generic CHR causing its ratings to drop. I may be moving back to the northshore of St. Tammany and wish so much for the music from that era and stations to fill the Southern Louisiana air again. Here is a sample from Mix 104.1 (recorded on September 23, 1997): archive.org/details/khom-fm-104.1-houma-baton-rouge-new-orleans-la-23-september-1997?webamp=default
The difference between 104.9 and 99.3 is the following: 104.9 broadcasts Regional Mexican (banda and corrido) while 99.3 broadcasts that and plays cumbia, ranchera and grupera.
Thank you so much I needed a lot of help because I don’t speak Spanish I may not know most of those words since I don’t speak Spanish, but that was nice of you to assist me in the format.
Good news, Tomorrow Norsan Media will launch three new formats in Austin Texas: Leyendas 98.5, Mexicanisima 99.3 and Magia 101.9 & 1260, better than they had brought the Latina and Flow formats to Austin.
I don't think translators count, the only thing with a translator is you have to feed it off an AM station or a HD-2 feed. Cumulus to buy Audacy? say it ain't so. I don't know much about Austin radio, but radio in Toledo Ohio is also quite retched .
Thanks for the shout out, Robert! Yeah, I think The Eagle could return as active rock or use The Eagle name but as classic hits. A lesser chance, a simulcast of 1190am or Spanish again, which I kind of doubt it.
I really hope that 97.1 The eagle returns for a third time I've been really missing 97.1 The eagle being on the air also 97.1 needs to stop changing formats and just stick with being the eagle cuz the eagle is an amazing radio station loves it it should have just been the eagle this whole time all these format changes were really unnecessary they should have just stuck with the same radio station
That’s very true. It feels like clear channel is just bored and they just change the station whenever they feel like it and eventually flip it back I’m sure they hate admitting when they made a mistake.
I-H isn't known for talk radio formats, so I think they didn't want to spend the money or time to grow the station. Totally stupid move despite the face The Eagle's ratings were mediocre.@@RobertRadio757
Really sweet of you to always comment thank you so much. I’m always trying to keep people up-to-date on what’s going on in the bizarre state that Radio has been in for the past 19 years of radios downfall.
It seems that it will be the definitive end of the real Austin radio LLC and its formats KOKE-FM and The horn (which now the Texas longhorns games of the University of Texas at Austin are now in zone 1300 and 98.1 KVET of iheartradio) AND It seems that KTXX and K287FG will reunite with their little brothers KOKE-FM, K253AN, KTAE-AM and K270CO, it seems that Waterloo Media with Latino 93.3 and La Z 107.1 and Univision with La Que Buena 104.3 and Amor 107.7 felt the real horror. and that would bring Flow (reggaeton) and Latina (tropical) to the capital of Texas called Austin.
