Well look at you, what a very nice scene looking at you with sewing in your lap, absolutely wonderful! You have come a long way over the past several months and now you can see that rainbow ahead. I can see what a very strong woman you are. I pray you continue to get even better than you were. Many bear hugs my special friend and bunches of love too….. Claudia
@@lucilleball5970 aw..thanks so much! Yes it’s taking so long, but I keep working at it. It will eventually get normal I hope. I hope you’re well. Bear hugs to you too! Love, Claudia
So happy to see the progress you are making with your hand. Your positive spirit is inspiring! Thank you for your videos, and wishing you all the best!
I loved your quilt, Paperweight, so much I googled, Aardvark Quiklts is still around and still selling that pattern. (Possibly even a specialty ruler, though you are quite right any 45 degree ruler can make those cuts.) I am working through a series of foundation pieced spiderwebs and thought that your quilt was a variation of that where you kept the outer rings the same... I don't use a design wall, so keeping track of the rings has been what has kept me from trying that so far.
@@AvivaHadas thank you! I didn’t realize that Aardvark Quilts were still around either until another person commented on it yesterday. I don’t know why I didn’t think to check it out before I made the video, but maybe my video will send them some customers. Your quilt of spiderwebs sounds awesome! Keeping track of sections can be tricky sometimes. Hopefully you will share a photo sometime.
@@ClaudiaLash I've made 9 spiderwebs (I like/need the process, sew, press, pin, sew, repeat more than anything that requires thought or precision.) and have 2 more started. BUT I think the dartboard effect that the Paperweight pattern makes could be "replicated" with a limited pallet - red, white, & blue as an example, keeping the colors in the same places. I would end up "wonky" compared to the strip sets, but would have the bulls eye look. (Something to ponder - I don't want a red, white, & blue quilt - so I'd have to figure out my trio.)
@@AvivaHadaswow! You have made 9 spiderweb quilts! I would love to see them or a few of them. I think using any 3 colors or shades would work well, and think playing around with several different possibilities would be fun. I am certainly ready to try some playing with different fabrics. However I’m not allowed to use my rotary cutter yet, and can’t use scissors, but hopefully sometime that will happen.
@@janetfitzgerald984 my arm is healing and I’m still doing occupational therapy exercises every day. As to their pattern, I should have checked that. Thanks! I just checked their website. I love their designs and their fabric choices.
I purchased 27 vintage Dresden blocks from a rummage sale- the blocks have a cathedral window in the center- they are all hand stitched and hand stitched to muslin. The Dresden measures 14” and the muslin is 16” - they smell funky! I don’t want to undo the hand sewing but want to replace the muslin or should I just hand wash and sew them together to make a quilt top? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! I don’t know who made them but want to honor their hard work
Hi Sharon, I’m sorry if you’re seeing my reply again. I replied a few hours ago, but now it’s not showing up. You might first try hanging a block or two outside to see if that helps the smelliness. Very gently hand washing should be okay, then lay flat on towels to dry. If you don’t like the result, try unsewing 1 block and see if you can sew it on a different background. They are your blocks so I think you should do something that you like with them. 😃 I would love to see what you decide.
Your video showed up in my RU-vid Shorts recommendations and I have to say- I'M A NEW FAN!! Your voice is so sweet and your quilts are so amazing, congrats on being able to sew again!
It’s been a long time of no sewing so just being able to sew a little is exciting. There are still many things I can’t do yet, but hopefully I’m getting closer.
@@Debbiemae58 thank you Debbie! We are finally home and so glad to sleep in our own bed. Yes, God has been my strength throughout this ordeal. I’m sure I’ll be back to normal or close sometime. 😃
@@jwestfalldavis3574 thank you so much! I’m antsy to get back to work on making quilts. The doctor and therapist say it may be awhile but I hope I not.
I pray that you will get better soon. Thank you very much for sharing. I would be interested in learning how you did it. I just love the use of scrappy pieces.
Praise the Lord Jesus Christ that you are getting better!! Three weeks will go fast!! Love the quilt, looks amazing!! God bless you and take video of the show ❤😊
@@quiltanon yes I did. My ruler is very old though, so I suggest you check your local quilt shop for a pineapple ruler. Most are similar in how you use them.
