I am so happy you say, "no sponge", I was wondering if I needed to learn to use one. The few times I tried; it was a mess. Of course I am still learning. Now I would love to know the name of the band playing in the background in the beginning, lol.
New to pottery and really enjoying your videos. Was able to make 3 saucers yesterday thanks to you! Very much enjoying that you speak Spanish 🫶🏻 A workshop with you now on my list!
Love you so very much! I have many pots from many different potters and yours are definitely my favorite to use daily! Light, elegant yet earthy and fun ! Thank you for the inspiration and lessons on here!
I started to throw with a sponge at school, but soon dispensed with it, found it more of a hindrance than a help, Wish we could still buy decent treadle wheels in the uk, sadly we have to make do with electric wheels, less control..
I'm new to pottery and really enjoy your videos. I also found a book called "A Potter's Book" by a gentleman named Bernard Leach. Might you and he be related?
Thanks Simon for sharing a bit more of your pottery wisdom, I like the flat bottom plates and was going to try it out, but I have followed your example and have been trimming mine with a foot, and I haven’t had problems with them cracking, so I’ll keep following your advice.
Great video, Simon! Do you throw these on a bat? I would love a video of that process. I’ve seen you lift plates directly from the wheelhead but I don’t have that skill (yet!).
How long do you stay in reduction? I’m considering converting an old kiln, but I also worry about how long I’ll have to babysit the kiln for each firing.
Thanks for this. I’ve got a question. I have 2 blocks of clay in the original bags that, by an extraordinary feat of procrastination, I’ve let dry out completely in my garage. Would this work on a block of clay? Should I take a hammer to it and try and break it down first? Or should I just put it in the bin. I hate to throw it away. It’s good clay. Any advise is appropriated.
Sign of the times, its the same here in the UK, not many tourists here in the city of York this year, we are/ in pre2020 days packed out with tourists, not a lot of spare money about anymore to splash out on things like handmade crafts sadly 😢
